Rolex Sales Associate Response to Demagnetizing
This was just too good to not share. I'm not going to identify the AD, but here's my story:
My wife's DJ seemed to suddenly be running a little fast and we thought it might have become magnetized. I phoned a nearby AD and asked (1) do you have an in-house watchmaker and (2) do you have a demagnetizer. The answer was "no" to both questions. I know there are DIY ways to handle this but thought this could be an easy/quick assessment and fix at the AD. The SA advised the following: You will need to drop off your DJ with us to send to RSC. They will completely disassemble it, inspect for any problems including magnetization, demagnetize if needed, and perform a full service while they have the watch there. Cost will depend upon what might be found wrong plus the full service fee. Turnaround time will be 8-10 weeks. I said nothing further than to politely decline. And......after doing nothing for a couple of days the watch is running fine now so all is well. I know the SA is likely just spouting corporate policy/SOP but OMG! How many people would just hand over their watch?
