Incoming 15550st Bleu Nuit!

Long-time reader and this is my first post here. I wanted to thank the incredible staff at IFC Boutique in Hong Kong for their professionalism and friendship since I got my first AP in Jan 2021. Since then, AP has quickly become my favourite watch brand. The last few years have been tough not being able to travel and as a result I have really indulged in collecting timepieces. My collection has grown considerably from zero in 2020 to 8 pieces now, 4 of which are from AP!

I always wanted to buy my dad a watch and went with him to try the royal oaks in 2021. He really enjoyed the fit and feel of the 15450st. I knew the team would keep him in mind and after approximately 8 months wait, I am super grateful to the team at the IFC boutique as well as corporate to be able to purchase the 15550st to gift to my dad. As an added bonus, it has the 50th anniversary rotor! The wait was well worth it!

Luckily my wrist size is very close and we can share the watch! Pics below and hope everyone can receive the excellent treatment that I have enjoyed from AP and receive your allocations this year!

8 watches in 2 years with 4 are AP, wow! congrats man!

Haha, I'm kind of in the same boat, only started actually collecting just over a year ago and I have several watches now. Sometimes I ask myself if I need to slow down =D

but wow, that dark blue is even darker than I imagined. It almost looks black here.

Congratulations! wear it in great health!

hoping this same piece will be my 2nd AP...fingers crossed

Could you share some pics with alternate lighting as well? I know the blue looks different in diff shades of light.

Also, if you saw the "older" blue last year, how do you compare to this new blue?

This is a 15550. I get tripped up with the ref numbers between the two as well.

I don’t think the 15500 will have a 50th rotor, though it’s still in production. FHB’s comments made it sound like only the new references produced in 2022 will have the 50th rotor.

@OP - congrats, and great shots!

Ah you are right, quickly read that as 15500, too many 5's. Thanks for pointing that out.

I have a 15450 and was wondering if this is a different shade of blue compared to that. My SA told me that the 15550 and 16202 have the same
Shade of blue? How would you compare the blues?

Haha I agree with you, sometimes I ask myself if I'm going too quickly but I find myself appreciating watches more and more especially during the pandemic. Please check out my picture below comparing the 15550 to my 15202st. The 15550st definitely has a more sunburst blue under bright light, but looks almost black when it's gloomy outdoors like today.

Please check my pic below with alternate lighting and using a 15202st for comparison as well.

I would say the 15450st has a lighter shade of blue compared to this blue dial. Although I don't have a 15450st for comparison, the 15550st dial actually looks similar to the 15202st dial. Both look quite dark, almost black in normal lighting and under bright lighting you can really see the sunburst effect.
