That's crazy. I wonder why we haven't noticed anything weird in the watch market.

There was a separate piece in Bloomberg interviewing CEO of Mercedes F1 team. Thought it was interesting when he talked about if XYZ Formula 1 did if it attracted more Rolex buyers or not because that’s what the sponsor cared about. And if not, it probably was not in F1’s interest to engage such and such demographic.

Brutal for Omega and Tag. If you can’t sell in this market you have some serious trouble ahead.

Unbelievable numbers by Rolex. 29% market share is absurd.

Interesting but unsurprising data. I believe that any member of this forum knew that Rolex would hit high revenue figures in 2021.

It’s far larger when one considers all the Rolex buyers that purchased other brands almost entirely because they could not purchase a Rolex.

The number is surprisingly large.

Can't believe Cartier took over #2 from Omega. Most people I know think of Cartier as a jewelry brand, not watches.

I also know for a fact that some people bought Omegas this past year only because they couldn't get a Rolex. Despite this and a hot watch market, Omega seems like it's not making much gains.

Honestly, I don't even think of it as insane demand for watches. I think of it as insane demand for certain brands, mainly Rolex. Everyone else just seems to be doing business as usual.

People keep saying the reduced production causing the difficulty getting Rolex, guess it is the demand, no wonder I can't get any from my AD. Haha.

Same, I can't believe Cartier was the 2nd.

Omega sales are UP a whopping 25%! They are one of the biggest winners over the past several years. Cartier just grew more. Not “brutal” for Omega at all.

Incredible really - especially when you realise that's the estimated wholesale revenue too.

Cartier #2??? I have never met someone in my life who owns a Cartier. I keep hearing about their big sales numbers but not sure who buys them. I imagine they sell more women's watches than other brands but that's a big surprise seeing them leapfrog Omega.

It's not a surprise that most WIS just think of Rolex, Patek, and AP... and forget that Cartier, Longines, and Tissot are actually bigger than Breguet, Blancpain, Vacheron, JLC, Zenith, etc.

Rolex crushing the competition, Cartier over omega, most surprising to me is how Patek had barely any growth from pre-pandemic sales.

Favorite watch of women in business…by a lot. Also, seeing a resurgence of the brand with the younger crowd.

I imagine Cartier is a brand that gets a lot of walk-in sales. Folks that just wander into the jewelry store and buy what they like.

Cartier Santos (especially the large WSSA0018) has been steadily rising - go to the Seybold building in Miami and it's going for just over retail now with the resellers there

The distance between 8b and the 2.4b of the second place is what amazes me.

It’s surprises me as well Mike. I seriously thought Omega was cemented into the #2 slot.

I like some of Cartier’s offerings but they generally just don’t suit my style

Kind of a confusing article. Omega's estimated retail sales are lower than Cartier, but their market share is higher. And, they're using estimates that don't exist, but are extrapolated off of sell-in data only. It also doesn't say anything about volume - other brands like Longines and Tissot remain vastly more popular than Rolex.
