How about a Daytona love thread?!
Noticed a few threads recently about how the Daytona is disliked so I figured I’d make a 2 in 1 post.
1. I am thinking about swapping the oyster bracelet on my 116500LN to a black leather with red stitch bracelet. Would love to see what others have done as far as swapping out the oyster bracelet. I love the oyster but I also have a 116520 so I can get some more versatility out of the collection. 2. Let’s talk about why the Daytona is the goat . Everybody can obviously have their own opinion… this is just for some fun! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Love the Daytona C. I wait by my phone all day every day waiting for it to ring so my AD can tell me that I’ll never see one.

Nice pair. I prefer the 520 myself :)
I have traded away more Daytonas than I have kept to be totally honest. Screw down pushers are a pain and bad design, not huge on chronos as my watch tasted have evolved - I also like to have a date on my watch. So not my favourite Rolex model if I’m honest but there’s no doubt it’s good to look at :) |

I have owned a white dial 16520, both dials of the 116520, and now a black 116500. Yeah they pretty much suck!
I like chronographs, the "busy" look and the function even if I don't use it daily. I love the size, I do not think of it as small as many fixate on. It is an extremely comfortable watch, thin and well balanced. It will never be as legible as a basic 3 hand time only watch but I'm old and can tell time at a glance with it. And lastly they are as rugged as any of Rolex's other professional models, my black 116520 was pretty much my daily from 2004-08. Although it's currently back on its bracelet, my ceramic spent over a year on an OEM Oysterflex with Smarty endlinks. OP, might I suggest having Aaron at Combat Straps make you a custom stingray strap for your's, he can do many colors of material and stitching. |

Daytonas will always be in the crosshairs. Such is life.

It’s THE rockstar for a reason.
Here is a size comparison to give a real world view of the Daytona vs SubLV41.

The internal smile is even bigger now that I switched over to the oem oysterflex with smarty end links. Was worth the hassle of finally sourcing the bracelet.

I like the yellow gold with green dial and the white gold with blue dial.
I don’t like the steel references or platinum. Two tone with yellow gold and white or mother of pearl dial are pretty cool. Looking forward to the next gen Daytona. I’ll probably pick one up then!

The Daytona would be my one and only watch if I had to ever choose just one. It fits me perfectly, it is versatile as anything, and is tough as nails. The movement is one of the top 10 imho, and nobody can ever show me another watch that I want more than a Daytona.
That being said, my time here on TRF (15 years) I have had nearly every single 6 digit model except for a 116505 and 116506. Would not have it any other way. Some photos I have from over the years pic uploader |

I have to admit I went from being totally uninterested in the Daytona when I started collecting. I remember telling my AD ‘you will never have to worry about me bugging you for a Daytona’. I have to admit the hype also kept me away.
Last year I had the opportunity to try one on (the black) and I was immediately hooked. I sheepishly asked to be considered for one, and after jokingly reminding me of my earlier comments he said he would. I told him I preferred the black, but since all of my other pieces are black/Slate a white would be a nice change-but obviously would be thrilled with either. Well, I got a call a week before Christmas… |

Don’t own a Daytona, was never a fan until I tried one on. It really is stunning in the flesh/on the wrist and I hope one day I will be able to own one. Congrats to all the owners out there!

I wanted a Daytona for more than ten years and feels so lucky to own this one since 2018! My all time favorite watch and wearing it almost daily. I have tried on a few different bracelets (suede straps from GLC Straps / alligator from Delugs / super jubilee 63600) but my favorite is by far the super jubilee. So comfortable and love the vintage look!

They are without a doubt the favorite watch in the Rolex line-up for me. I'd love a third to make it a hat trick.

Is that a platinum Daytona? Can’t tell if the lighting is making the bezel and subdials so dark Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

On my smallish wrist - 6.25”, perfect diameter and thickness. So much better than the modern Omegas

Love my Daytona! Great size, love that it's only 12mm thick; easy to wear. Great history. White dial on polished bezel is true to the original and the most pleasing to my eye :)
