Oysterflex strap

New to group but interested to know what models the rubber oysterflex strap would fit. I assumed the Daytona and Skydweller as it is sold with those

Is that correct are there any others it fits? Thanks

I’ve seen it fitted on SS Daytonas and Submariners.

I suppose you could fit one to just about any watch with the same lug width - 20mm (Daytona), 21mm (YM42) or 22mm (SkyDweller).

Thinking of buying one to switch up current watches. Like changing steps to get a new feel to watches

They are not all the same, but it is basically a strap style end, so it should fit into most same size cases.

The Daytona case has the endlink built into the case to take up the case to bracelet gap, while the ones used on Yachtmasters seem to have more meat at the end and don't use the separate endlink spacer.

You also don't get the clasp if you buy an Oysterflex (if you can find one). So, you not only need the bracelet, but you also need a clasp that will work with it.

The Sky Dweller has a wider lug width I believe, so it won't work on any except the same width cases.

I had it fitted on my 126610ln a few months back. Had to use the Oysterflex on the 42mm Wg Ym.

So you'd pick a lug width and then decide on length. The ADs use a chart to figure out which lengths you need for your wrist size.

There's no stretch in OF and they can't be cut due to the metal strip inside so sizing is quite critical.

Obviously the size chart works only if you're using a watch case with the same lug to lug size as the original model and also that you are using the original clasp which may or may not be glidelock depending on model and age.

Also have you thought about how you'll obtain the OF bracelet? An AD will v.likely only offer them if you own a model that comes fitted with OF. Grey could be a costly mistake if you get size wrong.

Also have you tried one on? I expected great things and found they oddly missed the mark regarding flexibility, fit and watch head stability. The demo watch's OF bracelet was already looking a bit untidy at the clasp end too.

Worth a Google of OF so you know what you're potentially getting into.

The OF straps fit most modern styles, but you would need to note that some watches (such as the Daytona and the SKD) have different widths. You would need to buy the right one, not to mention the right length for your wrist.

I can tell you that the sizing varies by watch, as I would wear a E-D on my Daytona 116519, but on my 116655 I have a F-D, so you have to buy with caution.

I did a ton of research especially with sizing. I could not find an AD to sell me one. I did find one from a trusted seller. I will tell you even with the right size mine initially was to big as my sub lug holes were different. I found another shorter piece and made a trade so it fit perfect but it was a big hassle.

I sold it a few years ago as I was not wearing it much.

If you want the look at half the cost and much easier to size buy an Everest. A buddy gave me one and it’s the same quality.

It may feel the same but no titanium core like OF.

good advice, yes tried on daytona meteorite on OF - really liked the feel of it.

shame Rolex can be so awkward on these things as swapping straps can make watch wearing a better experience and revitalises watches i wear less

This is important.

I have also read that the distance from the case to the lug holes might be different even if L2L is the same.

So for example if I were to size an OF for the 126655 for my wrist, it might not work on the 126622, despite the cases being identical since the lug holes are closer to the case on the PM.

Haven't actually tried this myself though

The tech at my AD used the Rolex fit kit to determine what sizes I needed but would not sell them to me. I was able to source some with some unsolicited help here but was asked not to share where. Price was $270 USD for each half back in late 2019, they’ve gone up since I believe.

I’ve heard fitting OF onto the 116500 is a big pain. What was your experience?

I did not put it on myself. The same tech who would not sell them to me did put it on and later took it off to put the bracelet back on, both times without any scratches.
Plenty of horror stories here of PM Daytonas being mangled when switching OFs. I’m sure the gold is softer than steel but I think it’s mostly inexperience.
