Should I do this trade?
I recently tied a SS Sky-dweller blue dial and can't get it out of my head.
So I am thinking to let go: 114060 (2020) and 126710BLNR (2020) jubilee both very good condition for a new SS Sky-dweller blue dial on oyster. These two are my most sentimental watches: 114060 my first Rolex and luxury piece and the BLNR - it came just before my daughter's 1st bday. What are you thoughts on this trade ? 2 SS for 1 SS? I am pushing for direct swap, no cash involved. I have always bought new from ADs. But for this one I have no chance as my history is with multiple ADs. My other pieces are 116610LV, 126710BLRO and DD RG Olive. |

No due to sentiment.
But if no sentiment then yes, you already have another Sub and GMT

Having both of those same watches (12 vs 11 sub but basically the same thing) I wouldn’t do it. I had the datejust fluted bezel and always missed the ceramic bezel when I didn’t have it on. Maybe one of those 2 but not both. I still wouldn’t, but it is a matter of preference.

Based on your collection, it makes perfect sense to do the trade.
I understand sentimentality comes into play if it’s a gift from a loved-one, but outside of that i don’t believe in being sentimental when it comes to watches. Your first Rolex? Who cares, it’s just a watch. Bought just before your daughter was born? Who cares, your achievement is your daughter, not the watch. So forget sentiment, and get the watch you want. Given what other models in your collection, you can make that trade and still have a very nice collection with different vibes. You don’t need two GMT’s

Exactly - you go into an AD the resells watches, you trade in the LV, you will be bumped up the SD list fast.

I would make that trade if I really wanted a sky dweller. You mention the SD as being SS. It does have a WG bezel. I’m sure you know that though.

The sky dweller has a lot of wrist presence. If you are after that then you know the answer is to trade those other two. Your 126710 BLNR is a two time zone watch so you keep that feature with a Sky dweller. I also feel if I had the Blue dial Sky Dweller it should definitely retain value over time as it continues to be highly sought after.

I would say, SD is an excellent timepiece to own, if you are a huge Rolex enthusiast/collector which you clearly are. It’s an advanced movement and beautiful design. In terms of functionality you have a Pepsi for GMT and Hulk for diver. So definitely seems like a good trade to me - Batman and No Date Sub, while highly sought after by the community - are a repetition for you.
In terms of sentimental value, what I can suggest is make the SD purchase on a memorable occasion. It’s a hell of a watch to create beautiful memories with. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Trade Pepsi, add a little cash.
Keep the two for the reasons you stated. Once gone, you can never get those back. |

I would not do that trade if a watch is associated to the birth of a child of mine.

It's a reasonable trade... maybe I am not sentimental enough, but it does seem a bit of lower bar for the sentimental value holding you back -- particularly as you have multiple other watches.
Maybe if your wore it for your wedding, or you have some particularly memory or even with your daughter... but to each their own. |

I am still not a fan of the Sky Dweller (yet) so my opinion is biased, but if the watch in question is something I really, really want and I have your current collection, then the trade would make sense for me given that you already have a 116610LV and 126710BLRO.

I just got the Blue SkyD and I love it. With that, it's still a hard no for me. With enough money you can replace any watch but no money replaces sentiment. I sold my first Rolex about 6 years ago because I never wore it and I still regret it.
Take out the emotion, get 5K more back, and I say it's a fair trade.
