Chelsea Boutique :: what’s the deal?
Went to the Chelsea boutique in NY this past weekend and came away pretty disappointed. For those of you who may not know, it was opened in October and as the first combined Tudor / Rolex shop.
Walked in and shop was semi-empty / semi-busy (1 couple at a table, 1 couple on a couch, 2 people browsing). Plenty of staff, prob around 5-7 or so (incl 2 security guys and a bartender). Plenty of empty exhibition cases, prob 50% are empty. Stayed for 15-20min but outside of th initial "Hi, how are you" no one seemed to bother to ask if we were interested in anything, had any questions, wanted anything to drink etc. Pretty abysmal service but I guess these days they either don't have to care or just get numb to people walking in and asking for a Sub/Peofessional Model. Given that no one cared I didn't bother to ask either... Wife found the BLNR the lost compelling for me and was interested in a 36mm with a mother of pearl display but we decided not to be a nuisance. 2 GMT, 2 Subs, 1 TT Daytona and plenty of women OP around... Tudor selection was pretty sizeable but unfortunately no FCD to try on, no Ceramic BB. Given the current climate I don't know if I expected anything else but tbh if I was a new customer looking for my first special purchase, I'd be turned off the brand immediately....
