This is the Bulgari Octo Finissimo 102713. Better known as a jewellery brand, Bulgari is a powerhouse in the world of luxury goods. Unfortunately, in the past, it wasn’t for their watchmaking. However, Bulgari took a huge step in acquiring respected independents like Gerald Genta and Daniel Roth to be taken seriously.

In 2017, Bulgari revealed a timepiece unlike any other. A ultra-thin and industrial sports watch, the Octo Finissimo held the record for the thinnest movement in the world. The 102713 is the titanium variant of the Octo Finissimo line, which was the first offering in what became their flagship sports watch. It houses the BVL138 movement that measures a mere 2.23mm. Overall, the thickness of the watch is a mere 5.15mm in the sandblasted titanium case and weighs a mere 68g.

It is of my opinion that the first generation models with the sandblasted finishing throughout best represents the Octo Finissimo with its uniformly rugged look. It is a magnificent achievement for a brand that was known more for jewellery than watchmaking and has become one of their best-selling lines and is an icon in its own right.
