Buying a Rolex in someone else's name
Hey all,
Not sure if this is allowed or heard of, but if an AD reaches out trying to sell you a particular piece, could you register the purchase in someone else's name to assist in building said persons profile at the shop? Thanks a lot. |

This will depend entirely on your AD and your standing with them so only they can answer. My AD definitely wouldn't allow me to do it, however if I were a big fish they might behave differently. |

Buy it yourself and introduce your friend to the owner of the AD when you pick it up?

Exactly that and today this so called AD relationship is vastly overblown by the net. Some should remember all ADs are just shops that sells watches nothing more.

You're essentially passing and telling the AD who you want them to sell it to.
Some ADs might be OK with this, some won't, for reasons which should be obvious. |

I bought a DJ for my wife registered in her name, so yes you can do whatever you want.

My issue is that I will be away from home for 1-2 years for work - so if I get any calls I won’t be able to pick up ..

Suggestion: buy it by wire payment and either have them store it or get someone else to collect it for you? Or maybe just let it go to the next person on the list. |
