Lange Boutique Boston / Newbury St.

Lange AD status pulled from Shreve, Crump, and Low.
Saw this on Newbury St. today next to the Rolex Boutique.

(Apologies if this has been posted before.)

Pretty exciting. Supposed to open later this summer. Lange rented the space about a year ago I think, quietly, and they have been doing construction for several months now. I think the photo/sign of the Timezone went up about 2 months ago. Lange will share a wall with the Rolex boutique next door (operated by Long's), and Long's Patek boutique will open across the street where the old Nespresso store was. Other brands might open nearby too.

I took this last year, around the time the Rolex boutique opened, but don't recall if I posted it here:

Nice. I’ll coordinate my annual trip up there with the opening.

That's kind of a kick in the balls. Lose Patek AP and Lange AD status

Could see it coming a mile away though. At this point, if I ran an AD I would exclusively focus on independents and brands like Zenith.

Not sure I agree. Just a few years ago journes outside the CB were terrible on the secondary market, debethune was basically done, and independents weren't exactly lighting the world on fire.

You don’t really have a choice. Patek, AP, Rolex, Lange and even Omega are pulling out of ADs and setting up boutiques.

I thought Patek only owned their 3 salons. Everything else that’s a boutique is run by an independent jeweler.

Was more meaning if you are an AD that carries Patek along with other brands, not a boutique. If you are an AD I wouldn't hitch my wagon to them and would begin to shift focus to smaller brands and independents.

Long’s will run both the Patek and ALS boutiques. I’ve acquired my Rolex collection through Long’s/Rolex boutique and they have been working on the Patek boutique for almost 2 years.
RM, Bulgari and AP are also in the neighborhood and EWC recently moved to this end of Newbury Street.
I also believe GS will be opening a store in Copley.
Will be interesting to see what happens to Shreve and Torneau. I bought my first Rolex at Shreve way back when they were an AD…

SC&L now carries Greubel Forsey, Moser, and Ferrier, though they lost Lange, Journe, and AP. They're also focusing more on preowned pieces.

GS will open with Tag Heuer.

I didn't realized SC&L ever sold Rolex! How long ago was that?

I got my 11613lb from them in 05 and my wife’s DJ in 06. I know they filed for bankruptcy shortly after and reorganized. After the reorganization they no longer had Rolex.
I am actually friendly with the watch manager and do enjoy browsing the preowned. They also carry Omega, Zenith, Panarei, IWC and a few others so still a nice visit for WIS…

Shreve Crump and Low is/was not a Patek AD. The Shreve that was mentioned in other threads is a Shreve in SF, not in Boston. I live right there and tend to drop in a lot. Must suck for them to lose AP, FPJ, Lange in such a short time.

Yea I know the shreve in SF is different. Shreve crump and low were previously a Patek AD as well, but lost it awhile ago. Supposedly one of the first in the US. That's why I say it's a kick in the balls having AP, FPJ, Lange, Patek and losing them all.

Sadly, the original Shreve Crump & Low building, which is beautiful, is slated for demolition. Although the jewelry store moved out of that building decades ago, the "Shreve, Crump & Low" name remains carved into the facade. See this article.
