GMT or Submariner
Apart from colour, metal type what other factors would make you decide between a GMT or a Submariner if you were to buy one ?
Think I was pretty sold on a Submariner but the dual time zone of a GMT really appeals to me. What other nuances about either watch would make you decide ? I also prefer the larger crown on the Sub .. and blue dial ..

I think you are answering your own question. Buy the watch that speaks to you. Try them on and you will know.
Or as many will say, "get both"... I'm partial to the Sub. It speaks to me. I tried a GMT on at the AD. I really liked it, but it wasn't "me" for some reason. |

The Submariner and GMT’s have the same size crown on the six digit references
If you aren’t a professional using them for the intended purposes, to me, it comes down to tracking 2/3 timezones vs. the timing bezel on the sub. |

They are different watches for different functions, get the one you will use.

I can can take my Sub to the pool and beach with no issue, but when I travel I have to reset the watch going to and coming from... If I could only have one, it would be the GMT, but I have both because I lack good sense and self control... |

If you have a serious use for the 2nd time zone, go for the GMT.
Otherwise, Sub is the answer. I always liked the Sub but really had a use for the GMT when I was deciding on my 1st Rolex. So went with the 116710LN. Now I don't need the GMT complication as much, so I'm getting a Sub, eventually... |

Sub looks nicer IMO. But it’s not a night and day difference to me. I think like some have said if u really need that gmt function then that would be your tiebreaker.
I do think the submariner wins between the two as far as the dial options go |

Sub is cleaner with the three hands and the less busier bezel but the GMT is just that bit more interesting IMO.

GMT. Especially now where you can source another style bracelet and have two looks (jubilee & oyster) in one watch.

A reference time zone is more useful to me than a diving bezel. Horses for courses. Ideally, I have both and the GMT would come first unless something unmissable cropped up. I like a date too, the absence of which doesn't come into play with a GMT.

Owning a variation of both models, here are my pro's for each.
GMT - Multi color bezel, Polished Center Links, Multi Time Zone Sub - Green bezel, glide lock ( which is single handedly the best feature ) |

Sub is #1 for me, but I love my BLRO as well. I prefer the sub by a very very small margin. I like the brushed bracelet of the sub and the glidelock. The GMT feels a bit more special and wears slightly better though.
You say you like the blue dial of the sub, do you mean the white gold version? |

It would be an easy choice for me: a Submariner (i.e. no date). The GMT is a classic and beautiful Rolex indeed, but I simply have no need for the dual time zone complication. But I admit to being biased, as I own a Submariner!

Limited to one … I would vote for the Submariner … the watch I believe to be the quintessential sports watch / Rolex.
Bias noted … I own 3 Submariners, and 0 GMTs. |

Apart from the obvious, the GMT is dressier and wears flatter.

Exactly this. You either need to track 3 time zones or will find the timing bezel on the Sub more useful. Whichever applies here is the watch for you. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Personally, I prefer the time telling feature of my Sub over the glide lock clasp! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
