Incoming - New Daily Wear
A little backstory: I was always interested in watches growing up thanks to the 007 movies. I grew up when Pierce Brosnan was Bond and remember watching Goldeneye seeing his watch do all kinds of neat things. I told my parents, I’d like to have a watch like that and remember them chuckling in response.
Fast forward to being some years later and that interest still stuck with me. An Explorer (124270) has been on my mind since last summer. The more I researched it, the more I grew fond of it and how it would be an excellent daily wear. The classic and elegant styling of it was my favorite aspect. Also, the older vintage ads of the original one released in 1953 struck me given I’m an adventurous person at heart. I’ve traveled to over 85 countries and look forward to seeing many more with this watch on my wrist. Two months ago, I was nearby a newly opened AD in my home town and went inside to check it out. The SA asked what other pieces I was after and we hit it off. Tuesday of this week, I get a call as I’m about to step out of the car. I didn’t recognize the name on the caller ID, but figured I’d answer since I was free. The watch had just arrived that morning, so I finished my errands quickly and went over to collect! Couldn’t be more pleased with this newest reference into my collection. I have a few other PM models I’m currently waiting on, but I’m very happy with where I am. Thanks for reading.

Nice watch and nice back story, all the Explorers are great looking watches.
I think the 007 films inspired a lot of people with watches, I collected all the Bond Omegas, but one by one traded or sold them all and now I only have the Casino Royale one. I also have the YM on Oysterflex and in my opinion it's the nicest watch Rolex have ever made, great choice :) |
