Adding to a Sub and Root Beer
If you had a 124200 Sub and a 126711 CHNR Root Beer, what Rolex would you be thinking about adding up to c. £12k ($15k)?
I’m talking to my AD about an OP41 green and the Starbucks. I’m hopeful for the OP in the next 12 months but not got much of a steer on the Starbucks - I’d be surprised if I got one tbh. I’m thinking about maybe something six digit that has been discontinued recently. DJs are not quite for me but I may change my mind there. My wrists are flat and a smidge under 7 inches. 6E38918A-77A1-49DF-B688-FD0C89D32A24 by Berty234, on Flickr F119BEFC-B7A3-4DAA-B4FB-6B240FCA8F89 by Berty234, on Flickr |

At £12K, buying at MSRP, with those two already owned, I'd be sitting back waiting for my Sky Dweller to arrive.

don't worry about the wrist size, if flat, it wears very well also small wrist. |

Alas, both too big for me really. I should have said, 41mm and under is best.
*NB obviously I meant 124060 in the OP. |

I would say the OP 41 Green would make an excellent addition.

Polar Explorer II. Great watch, very under the Radar. It is 42 mm but is very flat and is comfortable on the wrist.

Daytona if it can be obtained. If not, the Sub LV is a great piece. My assumption is you’ll be able to get the sub LV with some wait time. Good luck!

Also think OP41 green would be great, if it doesn't wear too large (it's a lot of dial compared to the Sub/GMT). In that case there's also the 36.
And, while not my personal taste, you clearly have an affinity for green, so perhaps the new AK when it arrives? |

I need to try an OP41 on definitely. The 39 wore well when I tried one on. Is the OP41 the same case as the DJ41? The DJ41 wears fine on me.

The AK could be an option as it’s much improved.

Haven't measured, but while I'm nearly certain that the cases are the same, my suspicion is that the dials aren't and the OP41 dial will be larger, while the DJ41 bezel will be thicker. Reason being is the placement of the date window. DJ41 and DJ36 use the same movement, which means the date window must be the same distance from the center. Ergo, the dial can only be so large, otherwise the date window placement will look very off. The OP, on the other hand, has no date window so that's not a consideration when determining the watch's other proportions.

Polar Explorer II, it rounds out your collection (Land, Air, Sea). Makes for a great rotation. It’s on my list.

Also, going out on a limb here, but have you considered a Tudor? Seems like an affinity for sporty watches, but in the sub-41mm size range. Tudor does that well, with the Black Bay 58 blue or new Black Bay Pro.

Something without a functional bezel, and ideally a jubilee bracelet to break things up. DJ is the clear winner.

I usually go about this process the other way around - first I know which watch I want, then I buy it. You seem to just want to buy a watch, and now you’re trying to figure out which one. Seems backwards to me, but I guess we’re all different. Why is recent discontinuation a criterion?
Sorry if I’m being overly critical. I guess I’d say buy the watch you like the best. All of the ones you’ve listed are great timepieces. |
