Want a Rolex, not a bracelet guy….

Every watch I’ve purchased has ended up on leather or nato straps as I’ve found I don’t like the look or feel of metal bracelets. This goes for Tudor, Omega, Brietling and Panerai!

I have heard the oyster bracelet is different in terms of quality and comfort

I’m curious to hear if there are others that didn’t like bracelets before Rolex and now love them or have just continued to use leather/nato even with the Crown

Feel free to roast me and let the bracelets or bust comments ensue

Modern Oyster is an excellent, industry leading bracelet, very comfortable but the Jubilee bracelet is even more comfortable in my opinion.

I purhased a 63600, often referred to as the Super Jubilee bracelet for my TOG. I purchased this directly from Rolex who sized and fitted this for me last Friday 29th April, at their London service centre. It is so light compared to the Oyster bracelet, I know its only been a couple of days but I prefer this lightness.

Here’s a good example, I own a DSSD Deep Blue. It’s a real beefy watch. People come on here all the time complaining how they can’t wear it on their 7 or 7.25 wrists. My wrist is 7” and this watch fits and feels great imo due to the very will engineered and built oyster bracelet.

I have found the modern 36 oyster perpetual to be perfect with a leather strap. It has something to do with the case shape.

Of the current line up the explorer II seems the most strap friendly. I’d love the oppty to “try on” a sports oyster at an AD, just doesn’t seem like an option in today’s availability market

Most ADs today feature exhibition models. You should be able to try some GMTs or Subs on either oyster or Jubilee. Everybody is free to do whatever they want, but I think bracelets are a significant part of Rolex appeal and identity.

Thank you - I am just learning about this. When I visited an AD last year it was all empty cases. Look forward to trying a few on.

Are you looking at PM pieces? The OF straps on the YM's and Daytonas are lovely. Haven't seen a SKD on OF, but I assume it is just as good.

I have the RG YM40 on OF, and I tell you I just can't take it off my wrist. Super comfortable, and puts a smile on my face every time I look at it.

In my opinion, nothing beats a lightly broken in 93150 bracelet.

I'm the opposite. I can't wear anything other than the bracelet.

I mean switching from a bracelet to a strap isn't a permanent decision so do what brings you joy, you can always switch back. I love the orange on the EXP II which opens up a lot of NATO possibilities which could be great fun. Having said that I wear my Rolexes on their original bracelets save for one, my 14060M which I wear on a MOD Bond NATO because I hate the 5-digit bracelet. My other Rolexes are 6-digits and their bracelets are wonderful, especially the Jubilee.

There are plenty of alternatives available to you if you don't like bracelets as you are well aware.
Having said that, the Jubilee bracelet is recognised as one of the nicest to wear.

I've tried OEM leather and rubber straps on my divers and they were fun, but eventually I tend to come back to the OEM bracelets for the nicer look, despite the relatively lower comfort.

I didn't think I was until I got my sub (5 digit). I was really surprised how comfortable it is. And how well it "works" for lack of a better term. It doesn't have to be tight to stay in place for one. Seems to have a "grippy" quality. It also breathes well.

For me a Rolex is a bracelet watch. When I want to a strap watch, it is always my Panerai. I understand why some may only want a strap as it is a completely different feel on the wrist than a bracelet. There is always a trade off as straps are lighter but bracelets breath better. IMO, Rolex does make the best bracelets in the business and find them very comfortable.

I'm a bracelet man myself, I feel they balance a heavy watch quite well. I mostly wear diver type watches though. Having said that I really don't care for any bracelet with large clasp.
I don't find Rolex to be the most comfortable if I'm being honest. Nor Omega.
A smaller clasp is what I prefer. I have found ( for me) the Breitling P3 to be by the most comfortable bracelet I have ever worn by a long shot. But I will never change a OEM bracelet for another. If it's a Rolex or Omega, I keep the original bracelet. I do enjoy rubber straps on some. I wear a new Hamilton 43mm Scuba for work. I find it tolerable. But that's me.

A watch is a personal item, wear it how YOU like. Strap, bracelet what ever you desire. Make it yours and find a way to wear it that suits you. It's just a watch, wear it like you want.

My 2 cents...IMHO, if you do not like the Breitling Pro 2 bracelet, you probably aren't going to magically fall in love with the Oyster. Can you be more specific about what you dislike?

One difference from a lot of Breitling and Panerai watches, however, is that Rolex watches (hold the DSSD, SD43, and a few others) generally are not as big, tall, or as heavy. This can, IMHO, make them a bit more comfortable to wear. For example, my Sub is definitely a bit more comfortable (especially in heat) than my Blackbird (a larger 43mm chrono). But I would not call this a massive difference.

That said, if you're getting a modern Sub, Glidelock makes the watch MUCH more enjoyable to wear if you are really active and your wrist tends to swell. I am in a climate with huge temp fluctuations and high humidity in the summer, and I am often outdoors. Glidelock is an absolute blessing. Some feel it is unsightly, although I personally think the clasp looks pretty neat.
