Will Rolex ADs and Boutiques carry inventory in the foreseeable future?

While visiting a number of watch boutiques in the South Coast Plaza Mall, Rolex as usual, didn’t have inventory. They did have the most popular models as display units.

The Rolex boutique had a security guard and one SA who was very polite and noticed my newish Explorer. I tried on a Daytona exhibition model to be appropriate.

All the other Swiss luxury watch shops were business as usual with inventory and shoppers.

It is starting to appear that Rolex’s business model is carrying no in store inventory and managing waitlists. It’s working fabulously and demand remains brisk.

The question is: Is this the new norm for Rolex?
