Nearly bought an SBGA415 today

I’m somewhat smitten with this one. Said I’d have a think about it and let them know.

Beautiful watch. Love the bezel free 62GS case and box crystal. Tried the 413 but the more subtle dial with the blue second hand is sublime.

What do we think about this one?

This post makes me smile because it hits close to home. I had the exact experience you did -- except I bought it on impulse that day, ha. To make a long story short, about 10 months ago I was sort of burned out on watches and the nonsense associated with Rolex in particular. So I went to a local AD that carries several brands and just started browsing. I got to the GS case and in a nutshell, bought the SBGA415 that day. Everything about it just sang to me. The angular case and box sapphire really hooked me, and I started this thread shortly after about buying my first GS.

After almost 10 months of ownership and daily wear, I can honestly say it's my favorite watch I've ever owned. It does absolutely everything well -- looks great in any occasion, keeps incredible time to +7 seconds/month, 100m WR, useful date complication, and last but not least, the lightweight makes it the most comfortable watch I've worn. I probably sound overly positive about it but I've truly been blown away but how great of a watch it is.

I think you know what my recommendation would be, ha.

How did you get on with sizing the bracelet?

I see there’s no micro adjust in the clasp but there are half/different sized links to at around with?

I think this is one of THE best bang for the buck references in the GS line Scott! That dial and the indices … no one does anything close at this price point IMHO.

This is my favorite case GS makes as it’s not too think and wears great. I like every watch they put in this case. All four seasons are winners You are picking the tamest of the lot which may mean it has the most staying power.

The bracelet comes with two half links, but they're actually closer to something like 2/3 links. GS does this intentionally because with half links you're able only to size in 1/2 link increments but the 2/3 links allow you to dial in an additional fit if you use both at the same time.

I generally wear watches a tad loose. Not flopping around type loose, just not particularly tight, and this watch provides a really nice fit. My theory is since the watch is so lightweight it's less prone to flopping around and therefore the bracelet doesn't need to fit as snug to keep it in place.

I keep referencing the weight of the watch. For reference, I have approximately a 7" wrist and as linked it weights just 92g, something around a vintage DJ.

Regarding the clasp, it doesn't have micro adjustments but I have really enjoyed how small and thin it is. Coming from a 126610 glidelock clasp, this one is a breath of fresh air.

It’s a great watch. It’s of those the more you wear it the more you appreciate them. They are nice in the case, and at the AD but way better on the wrist.

You just have more moments where you can appreciate the attention to detail. I’ve been wearing my 413 this week, and the finishing is so nice in so many lighting scenarios it’s always like something new and shiny. For lack of a better way of putting it the various areas of polishing , brushing and the angles and all within the dial catch light so crisply it’s almost as if the dial is in HD compared to Rolex.

Winter. It’s very nice. I have the spring version, I swim with it, wear it to the beach and so forth. More rugged of a watch than you might think.
