116710…..at what interval should it be serviced?
I’ve had this since like 2013…..only wear it a few times per year. When should it be serviced?

Every 10years for a modern Rolex I believe, so around now would be wise.

Send it into RSC or a reputable independent such as Philip Ridley, he’s one of the best out there & has a pretty good overall turn around time.

Why would it be 'wise' to send it in if there is nothing wrong with it?

I’d say you’re due for the service. I believe it starts at $650 for routine service then more of parts are needed. If you haven’t worn it much over the years it definitely needs the service. The modern lubricants last about 10 years but more importantly they only work if it’s being worn. Wearing them helps spread the lube around. When they sit for long periods the lube starts to gunk up. That’s when damage occurs and can get pricey.

When something goes wrong. My 16610 went 17+ years and my parents over 20 years. Now, im not sure that's ideal, but I wore my 16610 doing anything and everything and there were no parts that needed to be replaced, and was a standard service.

It's not a car where your engine blows up if you don't service it. When the watch "fails" to do it's job, i.e. keep accurate time, you get it serviced. And if OP only wears it a few times a year, he's basically putting zero wear on it.

That's my view as well. I'd only get service if the watch is no longer accurate (eg. greater than 10s/day error... that's my arbitrary number. Today my watches are all +/-1s/day)

As you can see OP, you’ll get two polar opposite opinions:
Leave it be if nothings wrong Service it every 5-10 years (choose your increment) I’m in the leave it alone if it’s running fine camp. In your case, why not wear it for a couple of weeks and see how it’s performing? Heck … now that I think of it, why aren’t you wearing it regularly? |

If it works well, it is not necessary. When it needs a service, you'll find out.

OP: Sell it. Right now, you'll get way more than you paid for it, then get something you'll enjoy wearing regularly.

How is it currently running?
Also, if you don't mind my asking, why do you only wear it a few times each year? I love the 116710...if I had one, I'd be wearing it all the time. |

I work from home so I wear a lot of sweats and etc….not exactly clothes that go with a Rolex LOL.
I probably wear a watch maybe 25 times a year. I’d probably lose it anyways if I wear it daily….I lose just about anything not chained to me. But yeah….this is definitely another one of those polarizing topics apparently (same as the watch winder polarizing topic). I believe it to be running fine….but, no, I obviously wouldn’t know if it were running slow or not given I don’t wear it that often. |
