How to report flippers?
Hi Everyone,
I have been lurking for some time and decided to make an account. I have been wanting a Rolex since before Christmas time last year & decided to finally attempt to get on an AD waitlist in my area. The first store was unsuccessful and was told there were 2000 people on the list, and the average purchase in their store was 20k. I understood this to mean " We aren't selling to you". I tried the second location, and after trying on some exhibition models I talked to the salesperson for a while and they put me on the list for 3 models (scanned my Id, etc.) I waited 2-3 months.... I was checking FB marketplace in my area to see if I could get the watch I wanted about 2 weeks ago. I started noticing a pattern. watches started showing up, but these are purchased either that week or that month at the latest. I thought the market was softening up and decided to stop in again so they wouldn't forget my face. I asked about trying on more models, China/Russia closing down ( This particular store was getting upgraded with a showroom & supposedly more watches will be sent monthly). I asked him what do they do about flippers? I was told, " Rolex checks Facebook to see if people are flipping watches, and blacklists them". I didn't really believe this, because why would they have time for that? Anyway, These people are flipping watches a week after getting them, and I am wondering if there is a way to report them. I'm trying to get any kind of advantage I can, and if that means reporting people selling a 10k watch for 25k so be it. PS. These aren't grey dealers. They wrote they purchased them in my city and gave a reason why they didn't "wan't them" anymore. |

While I agree it is frustrating, I wouldn’t go through all that trouble, for two reasons. 1. You are an adult. Don’t be snitching on people like it’s third grade recess. 2. It most likely won’t result in you being moved up the list. Might get you banned at the respective AD because they get in trouble when people flip watches bought from them. I would not do it ,as well. It wont get you anywhere. I see this all of the time,we have some kind of a flea market website, and people post watches with seial numbrrs, date of purchase .They dont even bother to remove the receipt from the AD,actually they advertise it. On the other hand, they might have spent 30k this year so they can do whatever they want. It sucks, but it is how it is. Recently i saw i guy posting an OP on same day as the purchase,a week of wait is too long for some poeople ...

I'd think stamping your feet and banging the keyboard would be whole lot better than snitching or ratting on someone .. just a thought to ponder on ..

While I do hate the flipping practice and certainly don't think highly of the flippers themselves, I'd mind my own business. Snitching on people is worse than flipping items for a quick buck.

While I wouldn’t go the route of the OP cos I don’t think it will get him anywhere, my surprise is with the kind of responses I am reading. It’s like we sympathetic to the flippers causing challenges we all complain about. Why call him a snitch or tell him to get a life? That’s almost like bullying Him to shut up….
Anyways, OP, don’t waste your time with that plan, will get you nowhere but banned by ADs in collab with these flippers. Good luck with your collecting journey… all this, is part of the journey

Really, I'd think 90% of TRF members (myself included) dislike flippers--they're definitely making it harder for people who sincerely want overhyped pieces to get what they want without waiting ages. But it's not an illegal practice, and I doubt Rolex cares enough to do anything punitive. This has been extremely well covered on the forum.

There is nothing to report. Rolex does not care about flippers, nor do they care about grays. Move along nothing to see here.

It's just a watch.

FYI. This happens everywhere and everyone into Rolex knows about it.
Either hope you get lucky, play AD games, buy grey, or buy another brand. |

So much flipper bashing happens on here, then when a guy wants to do something about it, he gets bashed himself
