Royal Oak dual time: gmt addicted in need of advice.

Hello all!

First post in this sub forum, as I have been patiently waiting for my own 15550 for a while.
The reason I’m writing as I realized my collection is definitely GMT centered.
I have several Rolex GMTs , and I love them all, also a VC Dual Time which also gets a lot of wrist time.

The idea is that I’m thinking of putting up some of my watches towards either a trade or sale to purchase a nice Royal Oak Dual Time.

Discontinued now, but I feel that’s the model that speaks to me the most, since it always feels weird to look down and not see my other time zone represented :)

What are your thoughts on it?

At this point, I would put up a BLNR and current LV sub, towards the purchase/trade. I would keep my other GMTs as they all have a sentimental value.

I would love to hear from owners as far as reliability, opinions, advice.

Thanks in advance for your time!

While I like the dial layout of the dual time RO's, I much prefer the "functionality" aspect of the Rolex GMTs ... What is the point of the minute hand of the second time zone? It seems that you cannot individually adjust the minute hand (for more "exotic" timezones such as India or western Australia, for example), so why they did include it in the first place is a mystery to me (and triggers my WIS OCD) ...

I like the AP Dual Time and it's a nice time piece. Maybe to add to the collection, but I don't think I would trade two hard to get Rolex pieces to get it. That's just me though.

I like the idea, but execution can be a bit tricky with most dealers wanting to make the spread on both sides of the trade, BUT if you found one that had in stock and willing to take the spread only once, I'd do the deal in your shoes.

Personally, I don't prefer the atheistic and like something like a PP5164 better, more clean, but if you like it, go for it with a good deal. FWIW, I noticed EWC has one right now.

I would go for it, the 39mm is the best size and the Dual time is thinner then most watches that have the same function. Pity for me I only like the 26124ST which is the rarest and the only one with a blue sunburst dial.

Might be a little too late for this to happen.
Most places I enquired for a partial trade in are obviously low on trade in value but keep their Dual Time number up.
There’s no way I’d trade two pieces + 10k for one.
Oh well! Worth a try.

There is a GMT in the works, I was told release date is later this year or next.

Cool. :) My SA hinted to this as well, but I thought she just threw it out there, because I wore my 5164a. Imo, besides a date, GMT is the most useful complication in any watch.
