3 weeks waiting for the best watch ever made

Hey guys :-)

Just got a mail from my AD (a small family owned one) that my new watch came yesterday. So tomorrow is the day. They have been very good to me, got a d-blue in March and a BLNR last June (my first there).

3 weeks ago I asked if they could get me this watch and now is the time. Pretty fast in these times.

I owned the watch in earlier models before and always regretted selling them.

The best watch ever made, can you guess what it is?

Best watch ever made is very subjective, but in my books it would be the Submariner.

Sub date. One b/c the best, two b/c hundreds of them just dropped at ADs (confirmed by two of my ADs). That said, maybe you're getting a Cellini Moonphase lol. Who knows!

But one AD said they recieved 6 black sub dates in the past 4 weeks, most he's ever seen at once and it's a single store location. One went to me and it was luck as I randomly asked for one on a Fri in May and received it Wed the following week. Never before expressed interest.

Haha sadly not. Been chasing that and the pepsi on oyster for a while, but he says it will take some time..

You guys are correct. It's a sub. Really looking forward to see the new model.

A little bit of AD says story.

We talked about what watches I could get and he said that Airking, Milgauss, Explorer 1&2. He did how ever order the Sub for me on allocation.
I could get all the others within a month. Asked for both a Sub and Explorer 2 Polar but I could only by one at a time.
He also said he would get 20% less watches this year.

Why? Means he's a smaller dealer, so could get axed within the next few years?

I have tought the same but don’t know. He didn’t say why. But the interior is not updated like other places so maybe you are right. It’s a very small place.

He also carry Patek, Tudor, Doxa and Tag Heuer.

From the title I was expecting to see a picture of a G-shock GW-5000-1JF.
Bit disappointed but oh well .
Congratulations and enjoy your new watch

The best watch ever made?

That is very subjective. Since you are on this forum, I guess you are thinking about a Rolex, and maybe a Submariner.

I used to own a GMT-master II but it was stolen recently. I could not replace the Rolex, but I could walk into a shop and get an Omega Seamaster AquaTerra the same day. Here is my experience so far:

- Negative: The Rolex was worth much more, so I lost a lot of money. It was also a great watch. I hope I get it back!
- Positive: The Omega seems to perform about as well as the Rolex in terms of precision. It runs a couple of seconds too fast per day. Every now and then, I can just pull out the screw two steps for some seconds, and it will be exact. I do not miss the GMT function, which I never used. Same goes for the rotating bezel. I never dive with the watch on.
- What surprised me with the Omega, is how much I like to look at it. The dial is large, clear, and I can instantly tell the time. The blue striped dial shimmer differently in different kinds of light, and the hands and hour markers are consistent, bright and clearly visible. With the GMT master II, I always felt I had to look carefully to distinguish the different hands from each other, and the cyclop lens disturbed me ever so slightly. Same with the different hour markers (some circular, some triangular, some rectangular).

So far, I must say that I am positively surprised with the Omega. I guess if it is good enough for James Bond...

Fooled me…figuring it was a misplaced post from the Patek section

I was going to guess a Calatrava…

Congrats on your new Explorer II! Well that's the best in my opinion....but really congrats on your new Submariner. If it's the best watch for you then that's all that matters. Enjoy it!
