Icon10 Managed to grab a Rolesor DJ 41 from my local AD (Chile)

I was on the waiting list since January, I asked for a Submariner (no date). A couple of days ago I walked by the AD and saw this really nice DJ being showcased.

I asked about it and they told me it was imported for a customer, but he got angry because they could not sell it right away. I told them to give me a call if the customer refused the watch on June 1st (actual day they could sell the watch). They called me, and I got it.

Literally the first men's Rolex that arrived in Chile 2022

Thanks for the comments! I'm not a fan of most DJ configurations, but this one was actually perfect for me.

Hey man, gorgeous watch. Love it with the black dial. Two tone DJ is iconic and the best combo IMO.

Congrats!

That's really a beauty!!! Congratulations!! Curious as to why it had to be held and not sold right away? Looks great on you, btw.

I had the exact same doubt. Did'nt get a really good answer though.
Watch came in the last week of May. They told me it could not be sold until the June 1st. Something about them having no stock and nothing to showcase.

When I bought the watch June 2nd, they could not activate warranty, had to come back a couple days after to do that.

Icon4 Would you buy this watch if offered by AD?

I just bought a DJ 41 from AD.

Today my AD gave me a call and told me they could sell this exact watch to me:

https://www.rolex.com/watches/day-da...8238-0004.html

Not sure if I should let this chance pass, I would literally have to rob the bank to afford it.

Please tell me what you guys think. Maybe spending so much on a Day Date is a big mistake, not sure, the price is on holly trinity range.

Why are you even asking if you can't afford it?
I don't like it, so it's an easy one for me to answer.

I’d do it for sure

Rob a bank
Steal
Go into debt
But it at all costs
No brainer

Personally, I would do it but not if it would represent financial difficulty.

It doesnt appeal to me at all and its definately not an investor piece like a sports watch is. I would rather invest that money than have it tied up

I wouldn’t because I’m not a fan of that configuration but perhaps you are. I do really like many datejusts in fluted/jubilee combo, just not this one. But everyone has their preferences.

I wouldn’t go into debt for any watch and think it’s insane that some people buy luxury watches without having all consumer debt paid and all retirement accounts in excellent shape, though. But that’s another soapbox.

ETA: just saw the comment on needing to rob a bank for a day-date. If serious and you don’t have $50k in cash without breaking a real sweat, you definitely don’t need to be buying a $15k watch. Jesus.

I wouldn’t and for sure not if it would be a financial strain. It’s a watch and getting into a financial pickle because of it is, well, not what I would.
