Day date diagonal motif no longer on Rolex Configurator

Just noticed that the diagonal motif dials of Yellow Gold Day date, rose gold and platinum 40mm, are no longer on Rolex website.
Did you know ?

I noticed that too. Too bad because that black
motif YG DayDate was my favorite.

I own the YG black dial motif… from a distance it just looks black, but close up you can see the detail. I had my choice of the lot and went for this one, it’s my favourite DD40 configuration.

Maybe being phased out in favor of stone dials? Higher margin there.

Is it normal for Rolex to drop model variants mid-year?

1. Perhaps it was officially “dropped” earlier but not removed until now
2. Not really a “drop” so much as dropping the smooth platinum bezel was
3. We can’t even say for sure it was dropped, vs moved off-catalogue, as there’s no drip announcement

Is that why I saw one at 51k earlier on Davidsw? Just when I thought prices were dropping

Wow, okay so my blue seconds hand smooth bezel motif dd is actually a rare combo.

That’s sort of cool. Pity the movement’s running slow…

I really liked the motif dials…the black and silver dials especially. I’m not sure how many DD buyers agreed with that but I think they look great. I’m sure everyone will want one now though
