SLGH005 vs SLGA009

Hey folks. Quick question. I know GS is advertising the SLGA009 as the Spring Drive version of the SLGH005 White Birch, but it looks different.

It looks like the dial is "whiter" for lack of a better word, and the grooves are less prominent.

Am I hallucinating? If I'm not, then the 009 is not "really" a SD White Birch. It is its own thing correct?

Yes, you are 100% right it's whiter and the grooves are less prominent... as I like the white shade better then silver of WB, I love more textured dial 005 by mile...

made by different studio. It's their interpretation of the white birch. Very different

I agree. While I don't mind the lighter shade, I do not like the flatter dial presentation. The 005 dial texture is its main selling point in my opinion.

This is a shame for me because I want to buy my first SD, and I thought the 009 fit the bill as I also like the WB. But when I saw it, I was taken aback a bit.

I might have to wait for the SLGA015 diver, but at $10k, it's a full $2000 more than the WB at retail, and GS divers have limitations (the clasp and bracelet being the worst offenders....of all the GS clasps, why are their diver clasps so bad? They look like cheap stamped metal, the kind you would find in a budget Seiko SKX).
