DD40: Ice blue textured dial vs Ice blue baguette dial

Platinum DayDate, which dial do you prefer?

Roman Numeral one exists but I'm interested in these two in particular.

Between those two I’d take the baguettes.

If the other choice were the dark blue deconstructed romans, I’d go that route

I’m a sucker for textured dials. I realize I’m in the minority, but that’s my choice out of these two.

Textured dial works in some configurations, but I don't think this is one of them.

Sunburst and baguettes for this level of piece.

to pay more than $60,000 for a watch and not get a little bit of tasteful ice seems completely mental

Diamonds just don’t do it for me. That’s for my wife. I love the stick dial. I have a 36mm ice Roman but the motif DD 40 is great.

Diagonal motif ("textured") for me after considering them both.

Textured dial, because the bigger baguettes at 6 and 9 bug me. If the baguettes were all the same size, then I'd go for that.

Not a real fan of diamonds. However, this one looks very nice.

That being said, I'd still get the one with the textured dial.

DD40: Ice blue textured dial vs Ice blue baguette dial

Textured dial.

This watch is stealth wealth, the baguettes add too much bling

I have a YG DD40 with baguettes because to me it’s as bling as I’m willing to go and the baguettes work with the fluted bezel, but I’m waiting for the textured platinum Dd40 with smooth bezel as a more ‘low profile’ version. To the non-Rolex aficionado it could be mistaken as a steel dj, which I like.

My favorite would be lumed stick markers and hands and a plain vanilla or sunburst ice blue dial rather than the motif dial.

The motif dial reminds me of a cheap imitate of AP's tapisserie dials, albeit diagonal to be different. Also prefer Patek's striped Nautilus dials over the motif dial by far. So in principle I like structure on a dial, just not the Rolex motif kind.

Agreed....I would prefer the ice dial without the diamond baggettes, just the index sticks.

this is interesting to me...
since the rest of the 2 watches are identical, it comes down to sunburst/baguette vs textured/lume plot. I'd love to know why you have such a strong preference, as mine runs the other way

Having never seen them up close I think maybe the diamonds just look a bit flat to me in pictures & thus don't really sway me.

Between those, the textured. But I like the Romans. Not because I’m partial to Romans but the geometric look to the DD40 Romans is just so interesting.

I would locate an ice dial with Romans. Agree that the structure of the Roman’s on the dial is super cool.
