Sub date or no Date
The AD has offered me either, i am leaning towards date. But like the symmetry of the no date. Cheers in advance

Always a difficult one, date is so handy to have but then the Cyclops is plain ugly, for the symmetry I'd end up going no date

Possibly the most frequently asked question in TRF history. There's no right answer

What the sub date loses in aesthetics, it makes up in functionality.
Originally wanted a sub, but received the sub date as a gift from my fiance. Almost a year on and I now wouldn’t be without the date function on a daily watch. Either way, you can’t go wrong!

I like having the date so that’s what I own, though I also can relate to the clean look of the No date. We all know there’s only one way to go at it, and it’s to eventually own a version of each :)

I know some would disagree, but IMO both the Sub and Sub Date are equally iconic in their own right AFAIC. The first Sub came out in 1954 with the Sub Date appearing in 1969, so both have been around for well over 50 years.
Personally I'm a fan of both - I have a 116610LN and a 14060M - and I love the symmetry of the Sub, and the asymmetry of the Sub Date equally. Toss a coin - you can't go wrong.

Sub Date for me. It just looks better & has the iconic Rolex cyclops. Love it.

Submariner is a much cleaner look and unless you wear it frequently the date will be wrong regularly. We all have cell phones and laptops that tell us the date.

No Date until I start wearing it daily and miss the date, then regret getting the No Date.

I had the same dilemma. I went with the date. It really depends on your watch collection though. My AD told me if your only getting one Rolex… you get the date.

Sub date - more practical if you're not a WIS
Sub no date - more beautiful/symmetrical, likely to be important if you're a WIS If you're still unsure, buy a mood ring or read your horoscope and go with that.

Easy choice, Submariner. If I want to know the date I'll wear my LV....or look at my phone.

The ND. The balance of the dial is amazing. I do not need the date as I knew the date yesterday so I know the date today. I also know which months have how many days and I even know when leap years occurs.

In the new ceramics I would choose Date (116613 116610 126610)
if I choose a vintage No date (5513/14060) Any Submariner is a unique emotion, a stunning watch |

Sub date or no Date
No Date was my personal choice. I felt it was a nice complement to my GMT II.
I was able to derive a formula, similar to a linear Diophantine equation, whereas the first unknown is ‘yesterday’ and the second, ‘tomorrow’. By completing the equation each morning I have negated the necessity for the date feature. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Sub date especially with the new AR crystals, over the recent years now I more so appreciate the earlier sub to not have a date wheel.

For an only nice watch, the sub date. For a collection, the sub.
