Appropriate time to request 2nd Rolex

So I picked up a 326734 SkyDweller from my AD last month. I had been on the waiting list for almost a year. What are your experiences on returning to your AD and adding another watch to the list? I want to request a 116519 OF Daytona, but think the AD will state it is too soon.

Just as they are swiping your credit card on your purchase do you ask about your next purchase. That is the appropriate time and I'm not joking.

Exactly that this AD stuff is now bordering on the ridiculous, all ADs are just shops that sells watches. And ADs are doing you no favours by selling anyone one of there high priced products.Just ask the AD he will give one of two answers yes or no its that simple.

After you have paid for and picked up your new watch, it's a very good time to let them know of your next reference of interest and discuss a reasonable time frame that works for you both.

Exactly, immediately, if not before

When I first met my SA at Rolex boutique. I told her all the models that I would love to have in my collection. When I picked up the first one, I reminded her for the next. Many of them came in within 4-6 weeks.

I think you can ask for the next one when you pick this new one up.

You can add many watches in the interest lists, and the AD will decide how quick and how many they want to allocate you.

I’ve never been worried about a time frame when requesting my next purchase. Ask when you’re ready to buy.

There isn't some social faux pas in telling a retail store you want to continue your business with them.

The waiter might giggle in the back room when you order a second dessert but again who cares.... The chocolate cake was delicious and it was my birthday so get off my case

i too thought i need to wait at least 1/2 year or longer to ask for next watch, so as to not appear like a flipper - but it served me no good.

So, yes probably ask right away

I picked up a watch recently and put myself down for another 3 watches they were happy to do so … considering waiting times are minimum 3 years for any watch I want would be stupid not to!

What did your AD say when you asked them?

Do you think anybody gets bounced down a list for being impertinent and asking about their next watch purchase?

Maybe you should stay home for a while

If the funds are available then I would be on to the next watch requests. I would also try to find out how long till that request will be fulfilled. I do not just shop with one dealer. My experience is better when I am shopping for what I want and not playing games. Good luck. What watch do you want next?

The amount of questions regarding AD interaction/behavior is ridiculous. Seems like everyone is afraid to say the wrong thing or they get banished to Rolex purgatory. The art of doing business is becoming a thing of the past. People skills are obviously diminishing.

Agreed

And the desperation is extraordinary and will only increase demand

And this is the reason I stopped collecting. Stores should be begging YOU for YOUR business. Not the other way around.

I waited about two months. Did not want to appear ungrateful or it was all about the buying process vs enjoying ownership. I am now on the list for the GMT VTNR so I suspect it will be a while. Been on the list since April.
