Is this an AD Faux Pas?

Hey hey!

If you saw my first post you know I went to 4 AD's to register my interest in a 36mm Datejust (silver, fluted, jubilee).

I had a question for all you Rolex experts!

One of the 4 dealers I went to was a Finks. They registered my information.

There is another Finks that is the same distance from my house for the most part but in the opposite direction. I would like to put my name in there too, but here is my question:
At Finks #1, do you suppose they will see my name on a second Finks and that will burn that connection, as the idea is I'm only going to one AD to look for my watch and that one AD is my main AD?

Basically, if I go to a second Finks store and they register my interest, I'm worried that the first Finks will somehow see that and feel like I'm not trying to build a relationship but I'm just going from AD to AD to find my watch. I have been told by someone who shops there that their databases don't connect automatically, the Finks #1 would have to specifically check my name in the Finks #2 but I'm not sure that's true.

In reality, I am kind of hopping from AD to AD, however whenever one AD gets me the watch, I'm going to stick to that one and build a long term relationship, probably build a little purchase history, and stick to that one.

Let me know!

I’ve bought from finks and they are great. But I’d bet money they chat with the stores about their lists. I wouldn’t do it.

Why not ask your SA: “Hey, are you able to request/swap inventory with your other store if they get it first?”

See what they say. Maybe the answer is yes, in which case, based covered. If it’s no (more likely) see if they suggest that you register there as well. If it’s their idea, hard to get upset.

This is the perfect play.

I was able to get a Sub from Tourneau where there were two in the area. I made it clear I was talking to both, and they both made clear that they were each going to try to get me something. Each gets their own inventory, so it was fair.

By the same respect, my normal AD has multiple locations. I finally visited another one a couple hours away, and they basically told me no chance—talk to the folks back home.

You're not going to commit a faux pas with two ADs, even if they are of the same chain, by getting on a list at both.

It's just common sense and if they will transfer stock from one to another, that's all the better.

My AD used to do that on watches that I'd request from him, most notably the 14060M he got for me in December 2011. There were eight left in the US and he got one for me and one for himself.

It should noted that he was an independent, family-owned business, so he worked with Rolex USA to find the pieces and then worked with the ADs to get them.

These are very weird times, but where there's a will, there's a way.

Nothing to lose by trying but in the UK you are only allowed to register for a watch at a single WOS store.

Can you see Rolex SA’s transferring any worthwhile stock to another branch?

Only the owner?

As Grady has indicated.

LOL, we're supposed to remember your first post out of the thousand a day that appear here?

You're over-thinking this. Just go to every store that you can. You're still not going to get a watch from Finks unless you're a whale.
