Did Panerai realize they made a mistake?
Probably not but here's a new release that went under the radar . Low in behold clear caseback with finished movement. P.S. 300m water resistant.

Let me reiterate, mistake by not finishing movement and by putting closed back cases on them.

Lets see how the price reflects the additional work
They may have realized they made a mistake OR they may have realized that the market would pay a premium for a decent looking movement and a display back

I am going to buy this watch. My AD said Dec/Jan and approx. $10k USD. He texted the rep for me. Will be a nice addition to my PAM01298 :)

Panerai has “industrial finishing” meant to go with the “tool watch” aesthetic. Except when they don’t (see the Brooklyn bridge model).
As for closed or open back, I think that’s personal preference. Many people like to see movements regardless of the watch. Even Timex and Swatch have clear case backs. But Rolex keeps them closed…...On Panerai, I think metal has a more historic connection and I just like the feel of steel against the skin. YMMV. |

for the amount they are charging. i expect to have a better finished movement with see through caseback and a better performing caliber.
omega can provide those at half the price. It's the least panerai can show appreciation to their customers |

at 10k this is not cheap, which is at the same price as the 1110 with chronograph function and a steel bracelet!

I agree 100 percent. I was wondering if Panerai made a point to show the clear caseback because of the blowback of the "updated" movement. At this price point movement should be decorated rather steel back or clear. |

A hacking second as well.
Looks like Panerai is steering back on point again. I don’t quite care for the minute markers as it makes the dial look a bit too busy. I could careless for a display case back on a diver/sport watch as long as the movement is robust, full function and hacking. I can’t tell if it is too thick as Panerai didn’t release that spec?? That is a personal preference and nothing more. Other than that the watch will be a over achiever and everything a Panerai should be. Ideal vacation/beach/travel watch at 44mm. You can even easily change straps at the hotel room from rubber to leather in about 20 seconds with the lug buttons. So you can have multiple looks in one watch on the go.

Very cool! I'm fine with Panerai making whatever they want. JUST as long as they stay true to their roots. Make all the new models. But don't dilute the brand by those new models. They have a diver WW2 history. That's more cool factor then most brand combined. Bring more WW2 themed watches rather then the martini going fancy models. I want to feel like Arnold or Sly when I wear a PAM
