Ladies Datejust Service Pricing
I've got a 20 year old Ladies Datejust. I pretty much wore it every day without any issue until about 2 years ago when I started wearing an Apple watch most of the time. Since I wasn't wearing it regularly, my trusty Rolex started losing time, so I got a self winding box for it - no real help. Took in in to the local RJ (Diamond Cellar Nashville) who sent it off to the RSC. Got my estimate for "required" service/repairs. Nearly $4750!!! That includes things I would have thought were cosmetic and optional (i.e. bracelet and crystal). The only optional items were for new hands and bezel. When I asked for a copy of the itemization from the guy at the store who called with the estimate - he said he'd have to check with his manager. What the heck? So questions - does this sound like an outrageous amount? I was thinking $1K-$2K. Also, if I get the itemization, will the RSC let me pick and choose? I really just want to get it functioning.

Get it back and take it to a private watchmaker. Should be fixable for a few hundred $ unless there's some catastrophic damage.

Nearly 5K for a Ladies (or indeed most all) model service sounds nuts otherwise...

Independent is the way to go for this watch, strange quotation, new bracelet is optional only ...
Don’t use your AD as a middleman. You pay their mark up and have no clue what is actually going on with your watch. The real RSC most likely will also not discuss options with you since technically you are not their customer. Some AD’s don’t sent your watch to an official RSC but use their own affiliated workshop. Good luck with that

That is an outrageous amount. Take it back. Ignore Diamond Cellar Nashville and contact Rolex service center yourself
