Career Milestone Watch

Within the next few weeks, I will be going through a once in a career milestone that I'd like to associate with a special timepiece. Given my preferences, it is unlikely to be obtained from an AD. Current thoughts: Pepsi Meteorite (126719BLRO), Hulk (116610LV), Smurf (116619) or perhaps a Day Date.

Any thoughts on the aforementioned models or suggestions for others?

If those are the pieces you are looking at, money isn't an issue, apparently. Since the secondary market seems to be softening, maybe just bite the bullet and hook it up.

I always loved the Smurf. Simple, yet distinctive to those who know it's special.

How many more milestones do you have left in your career? If mid point, I'd go smurf and negotiate super hard.

If near end of career, go all out and get metorite. Seems like getting close to MSRP anyways in gray price, though might have to just get it gray since so low quantities even if demand is low might not be able to get in near future at AD.

Congrats on the milestone!!!

Hate to say it, because I love the Hulk and own one myself, but I think it’s out of place among the other three.

I think Day Date is the best for this occasion, depending on the promotion.

I love the Smurf the most, GMT meteorite second, Hulk third. Smurf is nice but people that really know watches will know it's special.

Current collection will help but a day date is possible from an AD and gray prices are not bad. I’d want something good and special. Tell us more!

The choice is so wide - and the milestone unknown - all we can do is say which model we like.

I like Daytonas - get a Platona.

I would go for WG or Platinum Day Date with Meteorite dial, very clean and classy look.

I personally think a meterorite or smurf would be more special as a milestone watch.

Smurf - simply the best of everything all rolled into one .. but any mentioned are stunning and doubt you’d be disappointed with ..

For a work milestone, once in a career, I'd go with DD

I have celebrated milestones with various things down the years, three significant work milestones with watches. They were things that I had intended to buy for years before I got there, having promised myself that if I ever got to X, I would treat myself to Y.

I don't understand how anyone but you could possibly answer your question. It's such a personal thing. For a career milestone that you don't know how to celebrate, I'd say keep your hard earned money and wait until the next one.

Depends on what you already own and the milestone.

If you have some SS sports models and you are taking over a lucrative family business, then I’d go Day-Date with choice of PM up to your level of flashiness … WG with olive dial or Platinum with ice blue dial being pretty conservative. RG olive or sundust/baguette or YG bright green being more flashy, but all very classic.

If you are becoming chairman of the board at CitiGroup, then I’d say Platinum Daytona or Platinum DD fluted with ice blue dial.

If you are buying a new business, I’d say wait to see if it works it before celebrating.

Nothing like a Day Date to celebrate the truly important milestones in life.
