Turned this down on Wednesday…

I’ve been on a list with my AD for the new platinum day date with the fluted bezel/baguette dial. They called me earlier this week to check whether I wanted this or not. Too much for me. I couldn’t wear this to work-whereas the fluted bezel with the same dial better flies under radar. Please opine.

I’m confused….you said you’re on the waiting list for the PT DD with fluted bezel and baguette dial. They called and asked if you wanted it…and it’s too much for you. Whereas the fluted bezel with the same dial flies under the radar

What is the fluted bezel with the same dial ?? Isn’t that what you described in the first sentence? Am I reading something wrong here?

Huge difference between fluted and diamonds. I agree, diamonds are too much.

Fluted bezel looks 100 times better. Good decision there. The diamonds are too much.

So close to being “The One.” The diamond bezel kills the look.

After 2 year you can have Rolex swap the bezel I believe.

Excellent choice. Needs baguette diamonds on the bezel, have seen the round and it looks off to me.

What exactly is the full retail on the DD platinum with the diamond bezel and diamond blue dial? Since when did they revert to round diamonds, I thought the 228396 had the channel set baguettes? Or are those in fact baguettes but the picture is just blurry.

As far as swapping the dial or bezel, I once checked on that for my 228206 and the AD never even called me back, for the exact price, just gave an in store estimate and looked at me like, why would you want to do that?

Okay now I am thinking, you are perhaps looking at the 36mm "new" model. Not the 40mm?

Other than the 3255 movement, the "new" 36mm looks too much like the old one, no?

In either case though, I don't see round diamonds on the Rolex website, just maybe more square than rectangular.

They called and asked if he wanted the diamond bezel and baguette dial (as pictured in his post) and not the fluted bezel/baguette dial that he requested

The new fluted bezel became an option as of 2022 and was released at W&W this year.

The diamond bezel is the eye-sore on an otherwise beautiful piece! If that had been dropped, with the batons in there, it would have been a keeper!! Good call

After you have had DDs with no diamond bezels for a while, you may want the diamond bezel....

It is similar to drawing the line at no yellow precious metal, some people are purists in that respect too.

The purity of the "no diamond" look is great in principle, but after a while the idea of having factory diamonds on some of your watches grows on you. Today, I have some Rolexes with factory diamonds, some with none. (And most of her Rolexes have diamonds....)

116.3K is a lot for a 36mm, platinum or no platinum.

A reputable gray market dealer had this one, unworn, boxes, no papers.

for only $95000. I was about to wire the money when the dealer changed the price. To double! and so it remains. Now that's really too high.
