Will AP blacklist if you’re a part of MODA?

Been part of MODA for a while now, and out of curiosity looked at the members and saw my boutique SA on there. So he’s definitely monitoring.

I’m worried that I’d get blackballed (I show up on the member list), even though I have no activity in the group and will not flip. Does anyone know the policy on this? What do you think is the best course of action?

Maybe ask her? These are normal salespeople they aren't CIA. Tell her you like to occasionally buy out of production pieces and enjoy the people watching in there.

Too bad, I was just going to say that staying anonymous with a 37mm frosted WG rainbow bezel openworked would be quite hard

Fortunately I don't play with that cess pit known as FB and thus really really don't care.

No. Unless you sell an AP on Moda lol.

I am on Moda and RWB and I even trade (non AP) on there. No issues for me...

For the benefit of ALL:

AP are clever people and they like to protect their brand.
They have spies EVERYWHERE; they are on FB; they are on here.
You may think you are anonymous on here but everyone gives something away as to who they are.

But, free speech rules - f*** AP :)

Don't take it too seriously, but relationships are delicate, so tread accordingly.

Why would AP care if you’re a member of MODA? I think they only care if you sell a hot piece that they allocated to you.

My SA and I discussed MODA and I told my SA that I am on there. I basically just said that I am on there because I want an AP and it has been impossible for me to get one from the boutique so I am exploring all avenues and I mentioned FHB's comments about the secondary market being an alternative for those who can't get the piece they want from the boutique. The piece I am after would, if I was lucky, yield like a $15k windfall on the open market. I have been at this for over a year. My time is worth a lot more than that. If they can't see after a year of visits and other communications that I am not doing all this to flip their entry level model (15510 and I do not care if its a 50th version) then I don't know what else I need to do.

Maybe, but I was just trying to make it as clear as I could to my SA that I am not a flipper and, at the same time, realistic about what is doable and what isn't via the boutique route.

My SA is on Moda. I have not flipped an AP on Moda although I have sold other stuff. Why would an SA have a problem with a watch collector being on a FB group where people sell watches? Being on Moda does not equal flipper and it's not like Moda is the only avenue to flip an AP.

Thanks, this is helpful. And you’ve purchased direct from AP?

Yes, multiple pieces. I even discussed the state of the grey market with my SA. He sees me wearing the pieces when I go to the boutique.

If I have to tiptoe around the internet or kiss a sales associates behind for a watch I’m not interested.

MODA began for dealers. Then forked into 3 distinct fora when consumers packed the original. So some ADs may overreact to one’s membership.

If AP is preoccupied with MODA, then they aren’t busy enough making/selling their own brand.

In addition to the traditional ways of tracking clients, a fairly small number of people, and would be clients, which is almost everybody, AP has been putting small tracking chips in the clasps of all ROs since 2020, after all, their designers had nothing else to do. ROOs and Code have been exempt from this because, well, nobody cares. And, as everyone knows, social media platforms sell all data to anyone who wants it, especially now with advertising revenues down, so the idea that AP don't have all your watch flipping peccadilloes on file is naive. Even if you only discussed it, in concept, with a friend on line. You might as well try to hide from God. The only way to stay right with AP is to be pure of thought.

There is a guy that I know through an online private horology group who has been getting a steady supply of BNIB APs (from a US boutique) and has been flipping them for months now in MODA and it doesn't seem like they care enough to stop supplying him. (if they are at all tracking)
