Seem to be a few new Air King incomings these days. Here in Japan, there are no calls, no lists, it's only "1st come 1st served". I had no spend history with this AD but a casual relationship in that I would stop by from time to time, chat about the market, watches, what I was looking for etc. We were on a first name basis, however I was starting feel like these visits were becoming a waste of time. So I was curiously surprised when he suddenly asked me "What are you doing tomorrow at 12pm?" My reply, of course was "I'll be in the neighborhood, I'll stop by". There was no mention of anything specific, but he was well aware of my wishlist top three. The Air King being one of them. I had been debating between the older 116900 and the new version 126900. That evening I watched numerous "old vs. new" comparison videos and decided the 126900 was the one to choose. So if it were to be the new version, I would take it. The next day, at the appointed time, it was reviled. All I can say is Wow! The white numerals, silver outlines on the 3, 6, 9, and triangle 12 really pop against the black which looks almost like a Vantablack. Adding to the visual enjoyment is the gold crown and green Rolex logos. The bezel sparkles and the vintage Air King logo is ascetically pleasing. As others have said, it looks amazing in person. Here are a couple of wrist shots.

Like its design or not, or the story if how it came to be... it's one of the more interesting pieces. Its predecessor is my every-day wearer and I love it. Enjoy yours in good health.

Nice pick up. I’ve given up with ADs here in Japan. Wanted a Polar for some time and realised it would be easier to ask my parents back in the U.K. to ask their AD for one. Took them two weeks to get one for me but a further two years for me to eventually pick it up (due to Covid and births). Hope you get as much enjoyment out of your AK as I do my polar.

Thanks Leicaman, I feel your pain and frustration. I too had nearly given up on Japan AD's. My AD in the US got me an SD43 in one week earlier this year. Going into my local AD last week, perhaps he sensed my disappointment with the whole "nothing... we can't put you on list....you can't call to ask about availability.... only 1st come 1st served.... etc. etc." Which is why I was so shocked by the availability
