Daydate Bracelet Dilemma
I have had the blessed fortune to try many watches over the years and have narrowed it down to a trio of Sub LV, Batman and SD43. My goal is to round out the collection with a Daytona on OF (unsure which one yet) and a DD.
Which leads me to my question. The gold DD looks fantastic on others but I always find it a little loud for my style. I like RG but think WG or Platinum (if budget permits at the time) would suit me better. However, I have noticed the WG and platinum bracelets don't have the pop or beauty of their gold counterparts. I am by no means saying I want to stand out. I just think the DD bracelets look better in gold. So I can either go stealth or go for gold. Anyone had similar thoughts? |

The YG DD is a classic and screams Rolex to me. So if you want a statement piece I’d go YG or RG.
WG or PT is more understated which is a good thing IMO |

WG and Plat DDs actually shine like crazy as well in real life.
The pictures dont do it justice or some of the pictures the watches are all dirty and fingerprint marks on them etc.... I've owned all 3 metals (YG/RG and WG) DD40s and the WG does shine ALOT. |

Definitely have similar thoughts, not just for Rolex but other brands as well. It’s always a tussle thinking about how yellow gold looks nice but it’s too attention seeking, versus white gold which is slightly muter.
Personally would go for the white gold due to this. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

In the flesh the WG and PT shine fairly bright as well. They are stealthy but only to a certain extent. All are great. I have a YG and a PT. PT is more understated but it’s still a day date.

What else do you have in your collection?
I have all three golds too and yes the YG is flashy, but I don’t think it’s over the top. Its been getting a lot of wrist time lately…

All DD's pop, especially in 40mm form. It really is personal style and comfort. To me the DD to have is YG. I think the RG is more toned down but still pops.

Daydate Bracelet Dilemma
Just went through this myself. I’ve had a few RG watches (AP RO, AP ROO 44, Daytona, Cellini) both on bracelet and strap, but none stuck. Didn’t wear as often as I hoped to. Never had a YG watch. I pondered a YG black dial sub and my wife wanted me to get a YG black dial DD40. I couldn’t pull the trigger as wanted something special but more low key. Went with PT DD and happy with my decision.
Also, I’ve had a WG and now two PT DD40’s and both metal bracelets glow just enough to be special but not showy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I have both WG and YG daydates. Whilst the WG does look great, it does not pop like the YG, espically in sunlight. Two very different looks, for me it’s hard to call the one I prefer. Guess it’s a case of trying them both.

Given your collection, go for yellow. Yes it’s loud but it’s not for everyday.

with your collection i would go with a colored gold day-date. nothing against wg/plat but i feel like if it's your first day-date it should be in yg/rg

All DD metals are beautiful, but I find if you’re choosing between yellow and rose gold that the latter is very skin tone dependent. I personally think that rose gold looks better than yellow gold on my wrist. Here’s a shot I just took of my rose gold DD. The olive dial works so well with the warm tones of the rose gold. Rolex knocked it out of the park with this one IMO

Daydate Bracelet Dilemma
I also didn’t feel too comfortable with full RG/YG bracelet for my lifestyle, so went with WG to maximize wrist time. However, I got a RG Daytona, it’s not loud on OF.
