Thinking of trimming the collection and consolidate
i want to trim my collection a bit and trade some pieces for the Platinum DD40 with smooth bezel, which Rolex unfortunately stopped making:
Current watches I see myself wear the most: - BLRO - BLNR - EXPII Polar (my latest) - JC In the end I’ll do what I do, but I’m interested which pieces my experienced peers here would take out in my situation and why. If you feel I shouldn’t ask a bunch of strangers in a forum, feel free not to answer. I’ve seen some members that have been through expansion and consolidation of their collections and really would like to hear their experiences, regrets and suggestions. Thanks in advance! I wear the TT Sub the least. I just always tend to go for SS (or WG) when I’m choosing my watch for the day. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Pick your favorite Land Air & Sea, add the DD, sell the rest. Per your comments, keep the Explorer, BLRO, JC, and add the DD
Nice collection by the way! |

Looks like a good trim plan regardless of pieces to go.
I’d drop (based on metal color and model type redundancy some combination of 2 GMT and 1 DD/TT sky) |

Very difficult and personal decision. If it were me and I wanted the platinum DD, and I wore the 4 you mentioned in the current rotation - I would:
-keep the 4 in current rotation because you wear them - keep the 114060 - most classic and easy to wear watch you have - keep the root beer and former GMT, just because you have all the GMTs - keep the Daytona as it is the only one you have - keep the blue SD, I am not a fan but I know many are Trade the rest in including the YG DD. You don’t have it in your current rotation and doubt you will go to it over the platinum.

What a great collection. I would not part with any of them and would be very happy with what you have now.

I have more than a few watches which no doubt is an embarrassment of riches on some level. I wouldn’t know where to pare down my collection but if I had it to do over, I would have limited my collection a little.

I love the idea. I'd keep a GMT (BLNR or BLRO - your choice), SkyDweller, and the Daytona. The size of the JC is offputting for me, but if you love it and wear it then keep that too.
The rest I'd be more than happy to part with for a DD in Platinum. I've only tried one on once at an AD, but it was beyond fantastic.

I would keep the Daytona, BLRO, SkyD, YG DD and diver of your choice.
I am a fan of less is more and don't see a purpose to have several GMTs or divers. As such, I would chose the one that I like the most (at some point I had 3 GMTs and 2 divers in my collection). DD40 are different, perhaps my most favorite reference, and they can be totally different depending on metal, hour markets, etc. Great collection and difficult choice to make. Let us know what you decide to do. |

I’d keep the JC and your new white expl2.
Sell everything else. Buy platinum dd, full rose rootbeer, yg Daytona oyster flex and white gold sub. Then go get an AP. |

My collection would comprise a SS Sky dweller, TT Sky Dweller, TT GMT, SS GMT, the Polar, a SS Sub Date and the Milgauss. Any or all of the others could go to make way for a big PM piece, which in my case would be a Sky Dweller.
You do you. |

Sell all TTs, Explorer II black dial, Milgauss, BLNR, and the YG DD if you think the Platinum DD will get all it’s wrist time, which may not be much anyway.

You have 4 GMT... I'd probably trim the LN and rootbeer
You have a polar exp 2, I would probably trim the black dial Keep the JC and the Sub, trim the TT Sub Keep the blue sky dweller, trim the TT Sky Dweller If you are getting a platinum DD40... might as well trim the YG one I'd probably keep the daytona and trim the milgaus So you would be going from 14 watches to 8. Keeping the 4 you wear most, adding the PLT DD40, and keeping 3: the daytona, the blue skydweller, and the no-date sub.

This is a difficult situation as you clearly went through some phases and focuses. 6 GMTs - you clearly have a passion.
Keep the Two Tone Sub and GMT, Keep one each of the SS GMT/Sub, Keep the Daytona and DD, and ditch the Milgauss. Add the PlatDD - you'll find LN safe queens |

I’m going through a similar consideration so instead of suggesting specifics I’ll share my thought process:
First I’ve purchased all of my pieces through an AD that I truly wanted, so I like them all. However my entire collection is Rolex and I would like to move 2 and replace with a Patek I have my eye on. I started with the pieces I would not move under any circumstance list based on how often I wear them and personal preference. The pieces that didn’t make this list will be what I consider moving if everything works out with the watch I want. Ideally I’d like to end up with 4-5 Rolex, a dress watch (the Patek) and a Field watch in order to add some variation and enjoy some other brands. There are some Indy brands I would love owning but they’re even harder to acquire or even see. Not sure if this helps, but food for thought… |

Personally speaking, I’d keep the Submariner, the SkyDweller (blue) and the BLRO.
I’d sell the rest and get the DD Pt. and call it a day |

Get rid of every watch you don’t wear. Get the platinum DD and keep some extra cash. If you got most at retail even better nice healthy profit. Some will tell you don’t get rid of the hot watches but if you don’t wear them let them go.
The one piece I would keep on top of your core watches is the blue sky D. So hard to get and you will always have it if you change your mind. |

Keep the BLRO as the coolest SS piece and the Polar as the beater. Sell everything else. With the addition of the DD PT, I wouldn't want anything else.

I'd sell, the white skyD, the black explorer II, the pepsi on oyster, and probably the TT sub as well. You have a lot of near duplicates in your collection that you can commit to one variant and still be perfectly happy with IMHO.
