ADs becoming desperate?

So not had anything from my ad this year. Popped in a couple times guy I usually deal with not there but just pop in to see if anything is about.
Anyway this morning get a unusual text from SA

Hi ****
Hope you are well? Just messaging to see if there is anything I can help you with going into the Christmas period and if you are wanting anything before the new year? Pahaps a watch? Let me know if there is anything I can help you with?

Look of course I rang the store straight up to see if I could speak to him he was busy and rang me back basically offering me anything except as Daytona I asked for as skydweller in blue he said they were very difficult but could have either of the other colours by Christmas.

Whether he pulls this off I don’t know Like I said not had anything this year and not a big spender. Do you think the ads are becoming a bit desperate now maybe watches becoming more avalible? He knows what’s coming in hoping I get the call very soon

Still far from desperate and they're unlikely to ever be, as the stock dumping channels (greys) remain open, with the relationship now being better than ever.

But watches are certainly becoming easier to get in general as flipping potential diminishes. As a result, many of those on the list will pass on a piece when called.

While it's still true that people wait for years, there are increasingly more accounts of people getting the call sooner than expected or sooner than they were told.

Very true

Flippers are less involved as there is less money to be made
But pipeline is still open and relationships strong
Having said that i do expect daydates to sell below msrp in near future or be bundled with stainless professional watches

Sylvia is on the list to first receive a spell checker. Once that comes in, she's going to ask about some punctuation.

I suppose although I don't know this for a fact and am just speculating but a lot of people post to this and other forums using their phone instead of a computer which I suppose is more convenient for them but really doesn't do much for us especially if they use voice-to-text which I suppose has the benefit of generally spelling things correctly but has the downside of little to punctuation and of course as we all no [sic] the wrong word can be used if it sounds the same as another

Just thinking out loud here, but pahaps you not share the exact email word for word in case they see it? Maybe it's just me.

I think ADs are doing just fine. You should be very pleased someone at an AD is thinking of you for a Rolex purchase. Maybe ADs are finally able to catch a breath.

It's nice to see the casual flipper's margin has shrunk on a number of models so as to not to be bothered.

Those guys/gals in the past who were on the list for and bought ANYTHING are deciding it's not worth the effort (with obvious exceptions). Hopefully this creates opportunity for those wanting DJ's, Explorers, AK's, YM's, Black Subs, etc...

Although I don't see display cases full anytime soon, just being able to express interest in a piece you fancy knowing that there is a high chance of having it on your wrist in less than six months or so would be wonderful.

I was offered a YG DD40 with diamond ring, DD36 with diamond dial and leather strap, YM II steel and YM II steel/gold when I popped into my AD last week.

The craziness definitely seems to be slowing down.

So an AD knows you've been waiting a while and appreciates you stopping in from time to time. They want to make your holiday extra special. And you post saying the AD is desperate???

Color me puzzled that you're not being thankful. If you want I'd happily take your place, can you get me a 36mm Tiffany please as my wife has been waiting for one. It'd make a great holiday gift for her. Thank you, you're the best!

My AD (also in the UK) isn't showing signs of desperation but we shall see, especially with the economic downturn.

Could be ADs may be forced to move watches from the safe to the cases; or they are just practicing their salesman skills.

So no SA pays attention and everywhere were go were have to beg / but stuff we don't want to establish a mythical relationship since getting watches is close to impossible
>>> ADs are the scum of the earth

SA proactively calls, checks in and asks if there's something they can do (aka - that's their job) >>> ADs are getting desperate

Can ADs ever win on this forum?

In all honesty, nice to see some customer service and customer appreciation return for 10ks trinkets! I for one am happy with the way things are going
