Got the call...Almost

I am waiting on an Oysterflex Daytona with Paul Newman dial. So when I received a text from my AD I got pretty excited. Unfortunately it was not for the Daytona. This Tudor Chrono arrived and she gave me first shot at it. I humbly declined and remain on the list for the Daytona. Its a nice watch but I has to pass.

I love Tudor, but if you're waiting for a Daytona the Tudor chrono likely won't scratch that itch. The date complication is nice though!

I've been perilously close to getting a Rolex about a half dozen times now... isn't Tudor about 80% and Omega about 95%? GS 110%

I'd be pretty frustrated if I was on the list for watch A and they call me about watch B, particularly if it is from a different brand.

The way the snow flake hand obscures around half of the sub dial is a genius touch. Tudor know that people don't buy these watches for their functionality and they don't care. Marketing over design and engineering.

I own both of the Tudor Chrono's and both of the SS Daytona's and wear the Tudor's more. Don't know if I am babying the Daytona's but the Tudor Chronos are very robust and a lot of fun to wear. I own a OEM Bund strap and some NATO's and it all works well.

Always good to pass if you don’t truly want it IMO.

Good luck on the Daytona Jaime

I have never been a fan of the hand style on Tudor watches. Just seems too "heavy handed" to me on any dial.

I passed on a Tudor Panda and sort of regret it now.

The Tudor Chrono is a great watch but is no Rolex. I recently placed the non-rivet bracelet on and it feels heavier and more balanced (when comparing to the leather strap or nato). But I'd wait for the OF Daytona, that's an amazing piece.

That Tudor is a great watch but it is not a Daytona. Did she say if buying it would move you up on the list?

No she did not add any pressure or allude that it would help me in any way. It came in and she thought I might want it since I do have Tudor in my collection. But she seemed cool with me passing. Time will tell.

That's the thing. I already have a speedmaster and nine other watches in my collection. I dont need or want a Tudor Chrono. I can wait patiently for the exact Daytona that I want.

While waiting for a BLRO I purchased a Tudor BB GMT to satisfy my need for a GMT. As soon as I purchased the BLRO I sold the Tudor. In fairness I liked the watch but had the dreaded date issue with it. Once repaired never cared for it again.
In my mind nothing can satisfy my watch tastes like a Rolex.

The Tudor is great, I have the white dial. Would it have bumped you from the Daytona list? In my experience, buying Tudor has improved my position with my AD helping me get access to some of the hard to obtain pieces.

Got the call...Almost

I had a different take from my own experience. Been waiting on a 116500, visit AD about once a month.

On a visit, sales rep says, “Have you seen the BB Pro? We just put one out.”

I looked, I liked, and then said, can I have both? She laughed and said sure.

But of course there wasn’t a 116500 in the shop - so I made sure she knew this wasn’t a replacement. It’s not even in the same league.

But I heartily thanked her for bringing the BB Pro up.

Now mine:

That’s my hope as a side-benefit.

I do like my new BB Pro on its own merits, though.

It's kind of like approaching the speed of light. The closer you get, the more energy is required. A Daytona likely requires $100k cumulative spend. That's 20 Tudors.

Great pass!!! Also, the PN Tona grey price has dropped a ton the last few months.I waited for over 2 years and my favorite seller (BriBoxer) got one and i pulled the trigger a few months ago. It’s incredible. Ive seen used in the mid- high 30s here as of late. Like Nike says....Just do it

The Tudor Chrono is a nice watch but it's no Daytona. I hope you get the Newman OF Daytona! How long have you been waiting?

I'm waiting on the same piece (almost 2 years now) and I have a pretty good relationship. AD said should happen soon and not to buy gray. We'll see!

This exact model seems very tricky. I was over two years and had likely bought 6-8 watches in the meantime. The day my AD informed me they had lost their Rolex acct, i bought it grey.

I dont think it would have bumped me. But I am kinda of done with buying watches that I dont really want to get the one I'm waiting on. Especially if the grey prices keep falling. I might just get one grey and save the hassle. I saw one that sold other week on Moda for 35k. That's within 5k of retail plus tax, so....
