Rolex DJ41 Champagne... Dresscode.

Hi everyone, this is my first post here, I follow the forum for a while now, really enjoyed reading you guys.

I LOVE the DJ41 jubilee, fluted, champagne configuration. So much that I should get one soon from AD. My dresscode is really Surf/casual and also streetwear relaxed most of the time.
But wanting a watch on picture and wearing it, is different. So what about the DJ in this configuration ? Do you see it as versatile and able look cool on an early 30s person ? (I have a two tone sub also but the DJ is another style)


Meaning, yes McGregor is wearing this type of watch with sweatpants, anything is possible but what do you think guys about the DJ champagne. does it have its own dresscode before reaching bad taste ?
(and of course I can predict the ones saying, dress what you want as long as you are happy... I know that, it is a simple question, hopefully leading to interesting answers.)

Cannot see any reason why any watch is governed by some perceived dress code they all serve one purpose only, and thats telling the time on the wrist no matter what the owner is wearing.

You're over thinking it. Buy and wear what you like. No rules or "dress code" when it comes to watches.

I’ve known a few people over the years that have worn that watch, or comparable config anytime, anywhere. Relax and enjoy it.

I know what you mean, and I’m conscious in the same way. 20yrs ago the answer was probably different….but things have changed over the last couple decades…the written/unwritten dress codes for watches is kind of out the window at this point.
The three-handed on leather with a suit, no watch with a tux, etc….those “rules” aren’t really relevant anymore. I’m kind of old school personally but have relaxed somewhat on the “appropriate” watch dress code of old. As far as watches go….anything goes nowadays!
The DJ with whatever you dress in will be fine, and practically no one will notice anyway. That’s a great DJ configuration as well !

This is very true. I maybe tend to stay stuck in old school principles as you mention.
I find it hard to have pictures of the watch dressed on relaxed clothes. All pictures found so far are wrist shots with dressy shirts with or the watch itself laying on a desk.

The DJ is a very cool watch. Either vintage or modern. I like the 70's-80's vibe of the DJ on jubilee with the fluted bezel. I think the champagne dial was only on the TT models but I could be wrong. I like the SS models with either the white, silver, black or blue dial with baton markers. You can wear it anywhere and do anything within reason in the watch.

You can certainly wear a TT Datejust with casual clothes. But be aware it will garner more attention than a non-TT or a steel sports watch. Whether that matters or not is up to you. I briefly owned a TT DJ and for me I found it restricted some of the situations where I was comfortable wearing it in a way that a SS version would not. I wound up going back to a steel configuration. YMMV. The champagne DJ is a beautiful watch and a classic Rolex.

Im in the minority but the TT jubilee dj is a limited piece. It goes well in some but not all situations. I wear my SS sub and DJ 41 WG bexel on oyster just about everywhere and with anything. This limitation has held me back from buying the TT Jubiliee.

I have the exact watch and I'm in my late 30s. I wear it with just about anything and it's such a good looking watch in my opinion. Good choice!

Obviously any watch can be put on the wrist. For your listed style, that watch would not be my first choice. Submariner, Explorer II would have been.

We are in similar situations. One of my DJ41s is Rose Gold with Sundust dial (jubilee/fluted) which is similar to the version you are getting. I do NOT dress fancy. Lot of times I am wearing old worn out hoodies, random freebie tshirts, and cargo pants, with flip flops or vans.

Unless I am at work (office/lab work), that is pretty much all I wear with my Rolex watches.

So yes, you can wear anything with a Rolex. Don't be afraid to seperate yourself from the typical Rolex owner stereotype wearing fancy clothes, and driving expensive cars. Its not like I can't afford those things, but its fun to be different!

I think it’s on the dressier side (at least to me), but see no reason you can’t wear it with casual clothes.

I agree with this. I choose to spend my disposable income on watches...don't really care what car I drive or how "fancy" my clothes are. I enjoy watches so they are "way above" my chosen lifestyle. I'd rather have 4 Rolexes and my Honda than feel like I have to drive a BMW and have one Rolex.

But yes, I can read everyone and the general feedback is that it doesn’t matter even though some of use are concerned about this type of question. At the end of the day, possibilities are infinite, and the only show stopper is our mind.

I wear my father’s 1967 TT Datejust with the champagne dial with my Tie-dye workout shorts, tank tops and Hey Dude shoes.

I wear my new 18239 WG DD with silver diamond dial; thanks to Jacek at Tropical Watch; the same.

They both wear pretty well when I play dress up as well but thankfully that isn’t that often.

At any age 30 year +, you’ll be just fine.

By the way, check out the super jubilee bracelet on the 2000-2010 Datejust. Others here can clarify on years available but it’s 100% a beautiful bracelet. The continuous jubilee band instead of a clasp turns it the watch from a watch to a bracelet that functions as a watch.

I have that watch with a diamond dial. I LOVE IT! But I know what you mean. It does look a little flashy and brings more attention. To be honest I usually end up reaching for one of my sports models. I actually wear it when I dress down in just a simple black t-shirt
