2 for 1

Hello guys, I have waited for 116500ln white for more than 5 years at AD and the situation is not getting any better. I have approached a grey dealer which has a brand new panda Daytona.

The dealer is asking for my brand new Tokyo Speedmaster Panda + 116710blnr 2018(which I seldom wear) + 5k for it.

Would like to seek for opinions will you go for it?

The final numbers don’t work out for me…. at all.

Either in USD or GBP

Hard no.

I would sell what you were going to trade first, then start making cash offers.

I like the Omega outright more than the Daytona … forget about the rest of it.

You know where I stand

If I am not mistaken the Tokyo Speedmaster is approximately a $13K watch, your BLNR is approximately a $13K watch, plus $5,000 = $31K for a new white dialed Daytona -- that does not seem bad to me.

If you want the Daytona, do it. I have a feeling that since Rolex has now gotten into the Rolex resale game the SS Daytonas are going to start spiking again.

Looking at Grey prices this is not bad. Is it a 2022 6500? Maybe get down to $3500 cash.

This. Find a dealer that will do consignment to maximize your return and then negotiate the best price on a watch in the condition that you’re seeking

I think you have more than the sum of the whole already. I regret selling every single one of the watches I have parted company with.

Bucherer had a CPO Daytona white 116500-0001 for $62,000 EU, so I think you are right.

Its actually better than that.
The prices quoted are likely the prices the dealer would sell for, they are likely valuing them both much lower, hence the 5k cash.
I feel the Grey is likely valuing the Speedy and BLNR closer to $14-16k together, plus another 5000$
around $21k is the price of the Daytona.
i dont like the Daytona, but that doesnt sound like a bad deal to me

From a market value perspective I dont think this is a bad deal. In UK where I am based, the panda tokyo speed master is around GBP 11k and BLNR is around GBP15k. So that will put the total cost to you to be around GBP30k which seems like the current market price for the white ceramic steel daytona (a brand new one).

The above is from UK perspective ofcourse, not sure about your local market.

So it all comes down to if you want the two watches you currently have or you dont really need them/connect with them and have an extra 5k to spare.

Wise choice for sure. I have the white faced Tokyo speedy, the BLNR and the 116500. I can tell you, I think the Tokyo + BLNR are superb watches, and I’d never let them go in exchange for the 116500.

Bear in mind, the dealer has access to your watches at wholesale prices. So he wouldn't be paying you retail for them. The incentive for you in a trade deal is that you will get your Daytona without having to go through the trouble of selling your other pieces privately. And you will save in sales tax as well. Ask yourself, what's his incentive in trading you one of the most in demand pieces for a 2 lesser in demand pieces? He'll have to stock your watches for who knows how long, and he'll require to leave room in case he needs to have a sale, clearance, and for after sale warranty claims. The Point is that it can't be a 1:1 trade in terms what the watches are worth at retail. Your dealer can ultimately sell the Daytona to someone else and take that money and purchase the Speedy and BLNR at wholesale and turn a bigger profit.

Thanks again for the input. But I really like the 116500ln and it can be my only Rolex. Let's hope the CPO will make the market price more realistic in future.
