The laquer is damaged/cracking due to damp/moisture. Fairly even but more so around white gold and date square. It looks pretty stable and will over time will I suspect turn various mottled browns.
Most will not like this, some will like it. Either way a non-matte (post 8.5 million) dial is pretty cheap to buy ($1-2k) so if watch is cheap (or can bargained down to cheap) it would not switch me off. Has original hands btw too (darker towards centre from same moisture).

Hmm.. ok thank you. Seller is asking around USD9.5k. Only concern is if this dial is badly damaged and worth considering. Thanks.

I think it's quite clear that the dial is damaged, the question is whether you like it or not.

Why is this watch/dial even being considered? It's shot.
These tritium 16660s are not that tough to find in good condition. Just look for a better example. They're out there. It's not like you found this SD at a pawn shop for $1,000. Then, maybe. But the asking price is pretty close to what you'd pay for a good example. Also, what's up with the case? The angle is not great in the photo, but it almost looks as if the crown guards have been polished away. |

Agree with the above comments. Damaged dial, not a hard watch to find in good condition.

I don't see the point personally in a 666 with WG surrounds. If you're happy with WG surrounds just get a solid 16600.

$7.5|£7k or smidge lower ✓ would whet my interest - but not 9.5.

That is a terrible dial and you've not shown us proper pictures from the rest of the watch.

Just a little tip. If you ever find a watch with a dial like this with moisture ingress, always get the case back off and look take a good look at mid case/case back sealing and the calibre as rust etc can ruin it/be a bit costly, and whilst 1670/5 (and the later mvt) were just a $1000 a few years ago, they are as much as $2000+ nowdays. Usually they are fine, but sometimes a heap of issues ensue.

Thanks again for the comments and advice. I am in Tokyo and dropped by a dealer to look at the watch. It looked ok on the website but the dial damage wasn’t clearly shown until I saw it in person.
