On-line advertising

I was on CNN's website when I noticed a Rolex Ad for the YM II. This made me realize that I have never seen an on-line Rolex Ad before. Is this something new or have I not noticed it before?

interesting..maybe its time for rolex to do some advertising due to its weak sales during this time of economic crisis...

Advertising is increasingly going digital - I know I'm the IT Manager for an ad agency. "Above the line" (TV, press, posters) and "below the line" (direct mail) are loosing percentage share to digital which say 5 years ago was 10% of business, it's now at 40% and moving up, as more people use the web and watch less TV etc. Digital is definitely "sexy" and so I guess we'll be seeing more Rolex ads.

The clever bit is of course when they (ad agencies and sites) present ads based on your previous viewing habits and interests. Despite working in the industry, I prefer not to provide too much information and have the sites I visit "defaced" by adverts. There are ways and means of retaining your privacy.

I haven't tracked Rolex advertising online, but it certainly doesn't surprise me that they are using it. Advertisors want to be where the "eyeballs" are, naturally .

Not sure if you have seen the ticking ads but they are neat. The hands move and are synced to the time. They are on life.com sometimes.

excellent placement

Being in advertising, and a huge Rolex fan, I spent a lot of time with this ad when I saw it. Notice the excellent placement of the Yachtmaster II ad with the super-yacht article.

I wish I could find out who their agency is.

I would assume Rolex would advertise on FOX news, not CNN
