Sell my Sub 41 to fund BLNR?

Spoke my AD today and they stated they are confident they can get me a BLNR this year. Currently I have a Sub 41 date and ceramic SS Daytona.

Question is= should I sell my Sub to fund the GMT?

No. I would try and find a way to add the BLNR without selling anything. The Sub is a great piece and I suspect you will miss it if you sold it. Also, adding would give you the best trio.....Land, Sea and Air.

No, just add it. You can always sell it later if you find it redundant.

This year could mean 10 months away....

I'd start setting a grand a month aside right now if you can swing it. If the call comes in August , you are almost there and maybe can keep the Sub..

If it comes next month, then reevaluate and sell the Sub then .. They are both such cornerstone pieces, I'd try to find a way to keep both, but it's easy for me to sit behind a keyboard and spend your money for you.

I wear my GMTs so much more than my Subs it's crazy I haven't sold any (yet)

It's obviously all personal choice but the GMT's beside being more visually interesting, wear better on my wrist.

That being said, if you can swing it then don't sell the Sub.

Yes, if you can sell your SUB at GREY market price AND get the GMT BLNR AT MSRP !

I’d wait until you have the GMT and re-evaluate then. You may find you prefer the Sub over time.

Easily sold, not always easily bought.

FWIW, I agree with this 100%.

If you get the BLNR and fall so in love with it that your Submariner becomes an afterthought, it probably makes sense to sell it and move on.

But if you get the BLNR and either, you continue to wear the Sub a lot, or you find you like the Sub more than the BLNR, you might want to keep your Sub, and you won't have this luxury if you sell it before getting the BLNR.

Try to fund adding of the GMT without selling the others. I wouldn’t want to sell my sub or Daytona

I agree with the majority here. Try and keep the Sub if possible. See how you feel when the BLNR arrives.

If you can swing it financially, this would be the best option. You would have the perfect threesome.

Will the BLNR be on Jubilee? If so, they are very different watches.

This year can be a long time. I would not sell anything until after the AD delivers the BLNR. With new watch releases coming in March and so many moving parts in collecting and owning I would not make a move. The Submariner/Daytona/GMT combination would be a great three watch Rolex collection. Start thinking about how to make it happen without selling.

Its a sideways move so it’s a gamble if you like the GMT better than the Sub. That glidelock will be missed. I have owned most GMT’s and found I like more of the Submariner’s style and physical attributes better.

Not for me. I’d sell the furniture first

Add the BLNR, but don’t sell the Submariner

Meh. As “basic” as the sub is, i personally prefer it over the blnr.

I would not, coming from personal experience of owning a couple of GMTs and ending up selling them but always returning to a Submariner.

Go try on a GMT and see what ya think!

I'd love to have a BLNR, but no way would I ever get rid of my Sub to accomplish that goal.

I've heard that a lot. Every time I visit an AD I hear "This year" or better yet "6 months." It could mean 3 years....

Some have been more honest and quoted "2-3 years."

All it really means now is "Go Grey."

Do what ever you can to keep all 3. This is my dream trio I am going for. You got the hardest to get with the Daytona. The only thing I will offer is you could trade in, get the BLNR, and then get the green sub next year. I had the black sub and I felt it was just a bit too close to the blnr.

Do you actually want the GMT more than a Sub? Cause when you ask the masses like this, you are essentially asking cause you want to know which is more popular and which give you more cred as a "collector". IMO.

It depends...do you have the cash to buy the BLNR? If yes, don't sell the Sub. It totally hinges on your personal financial situation.

I'm not sure if it has been asked or clarified, but do you need the money from the sub to fund the BLNR? If no, then no!

I still wear my sub more than my BLRO for some reason. I would never part with either.
