Did AP just retire the silver/white 15550 Royal Oak?
This Royal Oak was originally 15550ST.OO.1356ST.01 for the 50 anniversary (with the 50th rotor), but the new reference post 50 anniversary is now reference 15550ST.OO.1356ST.05
(https://www.audemarspiguet.com/com/e...1356ST.05.html) All of the other dial variants in the 15550ST range are available when you visit the site and look at either “All watches” or the “Royal Oak collection” with the exception of the silver dial. And when you go to the page for the current reference linked above, it’s the only 15550 reference that doesn’t have a price on the page. Did AP stealthily retire the silver dial for 37mm steel? If so, that’s a really short run for that model as it just came out in January last year (~11 months) |

Tell me you have this watch without telling me you have this watch!

Interesting, that being said 15500 is still there and that is out of production for sure, so it has the potential to be something but could just be a website error which I think is more likely.
Note that many current references have been moved to the legacy section if they contained the 50th anniversary in their description, and have been replaced with a version that is identical but without that reference. Could be that they moved the 50th anniversary one and forgot to include the new one. |

Yes, the 15550 silver dial is no longer available. I actually chatted with my SA about it at the AP boutique this past weekend and she verified directly. I was surprised to see no one started a thread about it then.
I was shocked myself because of the short production run. |

FWIW, historically it seems like the white dial is the most likely to go in and out of the line with very little run periods.
Eg on 41mm 15500 white wasn’t there at launch and added a few years later. For 41mm PQ white was the first to leave while blue stayed. |

The 15500 is definitely an anomaly in this regard
Its probably the worst core royal oak model they've ever released, the 15510 is basically an admission that it was a mistake |

Nonsense, with all due respect. The right-sized movement was clearly a big step forward from the 15400, and the 2022 transition was part of the design language unification/update across all non-Jumbo ROs and ROCs.

Many of us prefer the 15500 with the AP logo. |

Whilst I have a beautiful 15500 Blue dial I’d happily add a 15510 in any configuration too. They are both gorgeous 3 handers and an awesome addition to any AP collection.

The reference, 15510, is literally a patch on top of the bad proportions of the 15500, which everyone agreed had a rather bald dial with no text. The 15510 is exactly what the 15500 should have been in the first place

These days, people are more interested in whether the watch is discontinued than the virtue of the watch itself.
Also, people are not allowed to have different preference because only their perception is right and others are just people with horrible terrible trashy taste :) |

This will be somewhat of a surprise. The least loved color dial becomes the rarest dial, and surely that will affect grey market prices

Indeed, the 50th version is in the legacy and in the current collection the silver dial on the 15550 is available only for the two tone model.
I personally love that dial and I am happy to have it on the 15510. |

Bald dial with no text is fixed with a dial with even less. Right. |

Purely preference from my side obviously, but the design element that makes the 15510 more visually appealing to me than the 15500 are the longer indexes (they were too short in the 15500)

my opinion is that both models are great. whatever you acquire to enjoy the model line is a win. I'm partial to the white dial but also like the others. Wish we could go back to a time when AP didn't use ROs as a way to move codes and offshores. |

Agree on the second part however, would love to see a winner outside the RO. Hoping to see a smaller ROO this year |

I do NOT like the newer, lighter bracelet on the 15510 though. i wouldn’t say it’s flimsy, but it feels more delicate than the 15500 bracelet |
