Is full gold Sub and Full RG Rootbeer are too similar to own both?

I’m thinking about adding Full gold Sub black dial in to my collection. While I already own the full RG Rootbeer 126715. Is anyone here that own both of these watches please share your experience, i’m afraid that it might feel too similar. By the way, I only admired on the black dial not the blue I think it’s pretty humble and classic.

Thank you guys!!

No more similar than owning a 116710BLNR and a 116610LN (which I do incidentally). I love both and wouldn’t be without either.

In fact your options are more different due to one being YG and RG.

Not quite the same, but I have the TT Root beer and recently offered a TT sub.

They were too similar for me. Always personal preference however

This! PM pieces are awesome, and these two references are plenty different.

I was once in this possition owning TT rootbeer and TT Black Sub, in the end I sold the TT Sub and keep TT Rootbeer. I’m afraid in the same mistake would happen again. Lol

I personally wouldn’t, colors aside the modern GMTs and Subs aesthetically look like the same watch to me. Supercase/Oyster bracelet/Turning ceramic bezel…

But not my decision!

I was in between the two and recently got the YG sub. I love it!
I still want the rg gmt and will pick one up probably next year.
Lots of Rolexes look alike/ are similar and I’ve never had just one.

I can see the similarities but there are enough substantial differences to justify having both in a collection, to me at least.

Most would happily own a SS Sub date and a SS GMT Master II at the same time - and they are the same metal. Go for it

The 126618LN is the only YG Rolex on my "wish list"

I don’t think so, especially with the blue dial. But even black dial, the metals are just so different, they have their own distinct appearance. I have both and like each one for different reasons.

I totally get where all the 'fors' are coming from, and they're not wrong. I mean, how could you go wrong with a gold GMT/Sub combo?

For me, though, it's more about difference in bracelet types (as opposed to just metals) and dial/hand configuration. For instance, if I had a full gold sports watch with Mercedes hands, I would be looking for something with thinner hands and something besides round hour plots. As well as something besides an oyster bracelet.

So in this case, a DD in YG/RG maybe? After that, I might consider a Sky/or Daytona on OF, or maybe even a WG Sub (even though it is still an oyster bracelet, it's at least a different metal) if none of those blew my skirt up.

The good news is, though, there is no wrong answer and it's really up to you. Happy hunting!

If I had to pick between those two, it’d be the LN sub, which is one of my favorites.

If I was in your shoes, however, given the RG GMT already on hand, I might consider a DD40 with a black dial just to move away from grabbing another oyster.

It depends what other watches you have. If they’re the only 2, then I’d say they’re too similar.

Rolex's Everose gold is the best looking PM of any watch company in the game. Hands down.

Wow really ? I think yellow gold is Rolex’ forte personally. I know a lot are fans of rose gold (myself not included) and I can appreciate it for what it is but I would say Rolexes tone is far to coppery. AP and Pateks colours of rose gold are much nicer to my eye.

I hope my good friend Anthony doesn’t see this

Anyway I’ve avoided this thread up untill now as I think it’s a very obviously but seeing as I’m here now, these are totally different watches and personally I think a wonderful combo, how can you possibly go wrong with a PM sub + PM gmt. In any configuration or metal!

They’re both stunning watches and regardless of my last comment If I had to pick a RG Rolex that would be the one.

It's a true chameleon, the Everose looks beautifully different in every light. The warmth of the rose gold makes it look vintage and modern all at the same time.
