After some technical advice

Hi,
My friend who is a watch maker has asked me to
post this for him, as he doesn’t know what it’s for ?

Basically I know its a glass that's saphire so reasonably modern that will fit a 36mm datejust/daydate, submariner, gmt ect but can't think or find any model that as the black rolex printed on the actual glass

Said the reference number does help !!!???

Any help much appreciated
Thanks
J
