Welcome! Sit back and wait is all you can do. But be forewarned, we here at TRF are very good at making otherwise fiscally responsible people buy several things they do not need.

I would drop by the store periodically to touch base and chat. There may also be something else, not extravagant that they sell, you can use and purchase. Then you become a "customer." Stores love customers.

Getting on a wait list is definitely a first step...

Waiting?!

First off...what Calatrava said. Become a client...maybe you have some jewelry that needs repairing, or or quartz batteries changed out. My clients do not have to 'wait'. That's for chumps. If you think you are on a waitlist ask them who you are after. See what they say.

"Joined the waitlist" makes it sounds like you joined an exclusive country club. Believe me, it's not exclusive, lol! But seriously, spend the time reading all the info and opinions on here! Eons of great experience in this group, and it will help you appreciate your new watch even more, when it comes.

Went to the local AD and joined the waitlist

The store thinks all the new buyers are flippers which is probably true. A lot of flippers in the ocean.

Visit them and maybe you will be at the right place at the right time moment.

Start reading and doing research on the brand and watch the reviews of the watch. Find out what the watch is going for in the secondary market and decide how long you will wait.

At least half the “wait lists” are bogus.

Surprised no one has mentioned this yet, but don't just sit back as some people have said. Make an effort to drop in and touch base at least once every few months, this will speed up the process for you by keeping you in the sales rep's mind.

I actually had a sales rep tell me to do just that. In fact, he gave me his cell number, and asked me to text him periodically, too. He said, “Why should I call someone whose name has been on a list, that I don’t even remember what he looks like.? I’d rather call someone, with whom I have a relationship.” I feel that this guy is going to get me my next Rolex.

A milestone purchase also resonates with people i.e. I'm buying this for my 30th birthday or for the birth of my son etc.

I would just wait. Some here might suggest bringing coffee or organizing tequila testing event for the whole AD staff but don't listen to them if you have dignity.

Thank you all for the suggestions. Approaching an AD is the only way I know to purchase what I want at msrp. I dont know if the lists are fake or not but I feel like that was the first step I had to do. The rep gave me their business card, I sent an email thanking them for their time, stated my interest in buying the watch. I didnt get any response from them haha. I will visit the store sometime next month. I kept asking my wife if she needs any jewelry but she is more interested in traveling. So I am thinking hard on what I could buy that would be of any use to me. The AD also sells Tissot, maybe a Tissot PRX maybe a Montblanc? idk.. I dont care much for anything else right now. I have been saving up for a Rolex.. But I get the AD's perspective also. Why would they sell something that is in demand to someone who they might not see ever gain? So I have convinced myself that I would probably the last person on the "LIST" they call :)

back in the day....the first watch sold thru 2018...watch stores did just that, sell watches to anyone/everyone...even Rolex ADs

Welcome to TRF! There are many YouTubers who have posted a lot of practical AD advice. One such YouTuber is: Marc Goldberg; search for his "3 different Rolex A.D. tricks!" for starters. Beware, this may lead to many hours spent perusing the myriad watch related YouTube videos. Best wishes on your Rolex journey.
