Tudor Large Rose information needed.
Hi all,
I was wondering if there was anyone who could help me get some info on my vintage Tudor Large Rose. I picked it up about 7 years ago, and have not really worn it that much. It is a manual wind 17 jewel movement if I remember correctly. The case ref. # is 7984, which according to my research seems to be a Ranger case, which does not seem right, and the serial # is 511XXX. It has a Rolex signed caseback and what appears to be an original coronet crown. I have seen a few Tudors that were similar (different caseback, ref. #, or a date wheel) The case is about 33-34mm. The dial says "Tudor Oyster" Below the 12 O'Clock position and "Shock-Resisting" just about the 6. If anyone could shed some light on the history of this, that would be great. Thanks |

Hey Lucas How cool to discover this old unanswered thread in the archive
It's virtually the same as my dad's old Tudor that I've just posted about here with pics. Except his is the "Oyster Date" version with the date (obviously), & has a fluted bezel instead. He bought his new in 1967. So inferring from that, yours likely must date from the same period, mid-60s. I haven't checked what the numbers are on my dad's watch yet (it has a bracelet on & I am not sure how to remove it to expose the numbers), but will post once I know what they are, to compare with yours. PS What a weird coincidence that I took my picture showing it at the exact same time as you did - 6.18 Even the seconds hand was at the same position LOL |

...mmmmmmm...
...according to MY ref material, the 7984 IS AN AUTOMATIC with the eta 1156 movement.
...what it sounds like is that someone has put a watch together from parts of different watches. Stan. |

I had a similar Tudor large rose. Mine had a manual wind 17j movement. It had a cool rivet bracelet, but it was just too small. They pop up on ebay from time to time. Mine sold at auction for 350-

Not too sure about the movement but the case is definitely an Oyster Case.
