How common are fake 2005-2013 green boxes?
A few years ago I bought a 2005-06 114270 Explorer that has become my daily wear watch. I bought it without box and papers from a reputable seller and the watch has been examined by my Rolex AD's watchmaker. All is good.
I'm about to have the watch serviced by Rolex and I'm thinking about purchasing a period accurate box so I will then have a box and official service warranty card (I'm not too concerned about the accoutrements that come with a new watch like hang tang, instructions, etc.). How common are fake boxes from this era? This is the green box that does not have the flip down lid where you store the warranty and other paperwork. I know the current era of green box (with the flip down holder) is faked big time. But I don't know about the earlier version. I've looked on ebay, and I see many for sale, but I suspect many (most?) are fake. I do not want a fake box. Any comments would be helpful. |
