Some Killjoy Ramblings
So like most of you, I’m excited about what Rolex will be announcing this coming week, but (perhaps like most of you), am tempered by the fact that whatever they do announce will be nearly impossible to get at retail. As far as my local AD goes, nothing has really changed since this whole nonsense started. I reached out to them for an update on the GMT (any SS model, but my preference is the BLNR) I requested last July and my SA said that their store has yet to receive a single SS GMT this year… Not sure if she’s actually telling the truth, but I guess I have no reason to doubt her, and they are kind of a small town AD. But we all know the same old song: I have a decent spend history at this place—I know I’m probably nowhere near the top, but I have spent in the scores of thousands within the last year on stuff I’ve wanted. But it’s apparently not enough to get what I really want if they do have it in the safe… ;)
But no matter, I went grey and got my BLRO last November from a trusted TRF seller. I have no regrets since it seems like there is no end in sight for those of us on these “waitlists”! (And I know there are a ton of folks have waited/are waiting a lot longer than I have!) So yeah, this post is just me complaining about a brand I love, and to let you know that if you do end up going grey you more than likely won’t regret it! Still loving my BLRO, btw :) |

I would suspect that your AD is pulling your leg. I have heard from public sources that AD back rooms are pretty much filled with SS Rolex sports models, including ones in high demand. There is just no incentive to sell these to most people as they will not be the high net-worth, repeat customers that are their bread a butter.
They will also keep some in reserve for that one high profile person that might walk in the door. Finally, some are kept for "market" reasons, which is another word for timing the secondary market to maximize dealer profits....if you know what I mean. I don't think it's a secret anymore at least. |

Beautiful watch! Second hand versus dealer rally doesn’t matter as long you are happy with your purchase and what’s on your wrist at the end of the day. Looks great on you. Enjoy it.

Nice Pepsi on a jubilee! You're in a big club of unhappy waiting Rolex customers. I've tired of the AD games too. I'm of the opinion they have Rolex watches out of view in vaults out back and leverage them for sales of the less desirable trinkets on display. You must be deemed "worthy" to get the call. So no thanks to that. The magic of going to an AD to buy a Rolex is long gone unfortunately. I've broadened my horizon and have fun looking at other brands now too. Good luck in your future watch hunt. Cheers!

Killjoy? You’ve clearly never been served divorce papers on your yacht with your wife and mother in law sitting across from you.
Congratulations on that watch! |

Your BLRO looks great in that pic, I went grey on mine as well. I figure if you go grey might as well do it w the hardest to get in SS which the BLRO is one of them next to a Daytona.

Just happened to go visit my SA at WOS today on the one year anniversary of my LV they got for me. He said they still have no idea when a nice GMT might come in for me. He also said Rolex is kind of on hold right now due to Watches and Wonders releases soon...Your watch is soo cool OP!!

Beautiful. The day I decide to get a BLRO, I'll go grey. ADs are kind of taking the pi** on this reference.

What matters is you are happy. You are and you have a great watch which is virtually impossible to obtain from an AD. Smart move to buy one now where you could. I suspect ADs are holding these back for a variety of reasons all of which maximize profit to the store.

That is my favorite GMT color and with Jubilee looks awesome. Congratulations. I am so close to going grey, but gut tells me soon after the Boutique is going to call me. I’ve been hesitant to email him to many times, but just today he suggested I wasn’t being a nudge and offered his cell number for texting instead and asked my to text him a photo shot of the watch I want. Maybe that’s progress. He said they don’t know what watches are incoming.

Honestly, before I went grey, every day I woke up with anticipation that I was going to get “the call” that day… only to be disappointed nightly when the call never came lol. If you really want the watch and you can afford the grey markup, I’d say don’t hesitate. And then whenever the call does come, you can flip the grey and keep the one from the AD. |

You did the right thing. My BLNR itch has subsided quite a bit now that I have a CHNR but not expecting the hype for those SS pieces to die down anytime soon. 2023 was supposed to be the year of "The Happening" but nothing has changed.
The SA Lied. Login to MODA some time.... some sellers have handfuls of BLROs and BLNRs for sale in the same post, all fresh (March 2023 dated! 18k each for the BLNRs, 21k each for the BLROs) Here's a prominent Grey with his AD contacts |

Beautiful watch! This is #1 on my list and I’ve been waiting over a year. I’ve considered going grey myself!

Yes BLRO is the hardest watch to get after Daytona. Going grey with the current premium is a good choice. Congrats!
