Two watch combo - Losing/Gaining seconds

Hi all,

My first post, so thought I would share a pic of my Rolex combo. But at the same time I seek your advice.

I set these watches at the exact same time, down to the second. Each day the BLNR either gains circa 10 seconds or the YM loses 10 seconds, and as a result you can see I will lose over a minute a week. Both have been on the same watch-winder, BLNR has been serviced recently and YM pretty new.

I had a search, but couldn't quite find what I am looking for. Am I expecting too much or is this something strange?

I have found that sometimes there is a difference between wearing them and the winder. Maybe the more active and constant movement while wearing the watch keeps it better wound? your guess as good as mine.
But like you, I also set my watches to the second.

I have a GMT BLNR, that I had brought back to Rolex before, and now, is back again. The watchmaker said it was out of adjustment. So it is getting an overhaul. My watch since purchase has consistently lost time. But it was never -2 seconds. It was always more, and even after I had it returned previously, the watch lost time.

I'm hoping now, like my other two Rolex, it will gain +2 to +4. I much rather prefer a fast watch to a slow one.

Send your watch or drop it off in person to a RSC, and have the watchmaker put it on the timer. If it is out of spec, it will be clear.

Check out this thread. Also, have you tried calibrating both watches to time.gov to see how they track?

How accurate are they when not kept in the winder?

You need to wear them fully wound and keep wearing it for a week or 2 and then see where you’re at. Do it for both watches. If it makes no difference then yes, you’ve got a bit of a problem as 10 seconds fast or slow per day is pretty far out of spec.

-10 s/d in the YM is disappointing and is as far as I'd be willing to put up with before taking it to the RSC. Looks like a 3235 common issue. Good luck with the fix.

÷10 s/d for the GMT is not great but I could live with that.

Based on the 32xx thread, sounds like the YM could be responsible for the entire delta. GMT appears to use a 31xx which are typically more reliable unless something happens in an individual level.

Could be a combo - one is losing a bit of time and the other gaining some time. Use the watch tracker app. That will help you figure it out.

Too much -/+ for a new and serviced piece. Ring RSC and see what they can do (and how quickly) if it's driving you nuts.

Are those the right OF bands? I don't think I've seen that much gap
